The brief tour is winding down. Man. Three more weekends, two more weekends with big shows. This weekend, you can get tickets in Minneapolis or St. Louis. Next weekend, you can get Nashville or Tampa. Honolulu, Hawaii, final show this month.
Then we close it out with Las Vegas, Seattle, and Portland still have tickets. The rest are all sold out.
SPEAKER_5 (0:45)
You're in Tacoma too, right?
KevOnStage (0:46)
Yeah, yeah, that's sold out.
SPEAKER_5 (0:47)
Oh, hey.
KevOnStage (0:48)
Also, Nate Jackson got Dave Chappelle coming to his comedy club.
SPEAKER_5 (0:51)
In like 40 seconds. Yeah.
KevOnStage (0:53)
$150 tickets sold out in four seconds. Shout out to Dave Chappelle. He always does shows.
Angel Laketa Moore (0:59)
Let's have him on the podcast.
KevOnStage (1:01)
I'm going to get him. I'm here, Dave.
SPEAKER_3 (1:02)
Yeah, he can sit right here.
KevOnStage (1:03)
Call Dave. Call him right now.
SPEAKER_3 (1:04)
I'm going to call Dave.
Angel Laketa Moore (1:05)
We'll let him smoke.
KevOnStage (1:06)
He smokes a lot. I'll be like, all right, Dave, enough cigs. All right, let's kick this off.
SPEAKER_5 (1:10)
Yeah. Kick it up.
KevOnStage (1:12)
Chris Rock has had a string of interviews where the response has not gone well. A few weeks ago, he said he was ghetto famous instead of black famous.
Angel Laketa Moore (1:22)
Yep.
KevOnStage (1:23)
And I thought that choice of words was interesting because black famous already has a connotation. And it felt like black and ghetto were interchangeable to him.
Angel Laketa Moore (1:34)
That's what it sounded like to me.
KevOnStage (1:35)
Yeah. Because I feel like you could be street famous. Like I was watching Jay Z and Infinity with Melissa. And he was saying after his first album, he was like famous in the streets, but he wasn't mainstream. So I think in that point, street famous is fine. If you say, you know, like Tyler Perry in his bootleg days, he was like bootleg famous basically. Like all them pastors who knew stilling was against the Bible had no problem having copies of bootleg Tyler Perry plays. I mean, he went bootleg famous, but we still called him black famous, right?
That pales in comparison to the clip that came out this week.
Chris Rock was on the New York Times, a New York Times podcast or show.
SPEAKER_5 (2:20)
Wait a minute. I'm sorry.
Angel Laketa Moore (2:21)
Let me say something. It's also doesn't make, that statement does not resonate in a good way because it's also not true.
If somebody said they were ghetto famous and they were actually just famous in the ghetto, I don't think anybody would have a problem with it because it'd be like, yeah, well, the only people in the ghetto. Like people in the ghetto are not really talking about you, Chris, maybe in the 80s, maybe in the 90s. Regular ass, middle class black people is who know who you are.
KevOnStage (2:52)
And white people.
Angel Laketa Moore (2:53)
And white folk. So it's not even, you're not even in the quote unquote ghetto.
KevOnStage (2:59)
That's a great point. I took it the other way, but that's a fantastic point.
Angel Laketa Moore (3:02)
Well, no, I'm saying that's what makes it feel more derogatory. You're not even, that's not the truth. You are not famous.
KevOnStage (3:12)
Michael Scott was quoting a Chris Rock bit on one of the first episodes of The Office.
Angel Laketa Moore (3:17)
Was it season one?
KevOnStage (3:20)
When he was doing the You Want A Cookie?
Angel Laketa Moore (3:24)
Yeah.
KevOnStage (3:24)
That was the first episode, first season of The Office. Larry Wilmore had to come in.
Angel Laketa Moore (3:30)
Yeah.
KevOnStage (3:30)
So he was crossover famous. I mean, black people was rocking with him, bigger and blacker, but that's a good point.
Angel Laketa Moore (3:37)
So we know that you don't actually mean ghetto, you mean black people, which is like, why are you making us synonymous with one with the other? If you were ghetto famous, if you were-
KevOnStage (3:49)
Master P was ghetto famous.
Angel Laketa Moore (3:51)
Master P, I was about to say-
Josh Gonzales (3:52)
And he wore it as a badge of honor. Did he have an alcohol ghetto famous?
Angel Laketa Moore (3:56)
Who was the character based off of Snowfall?
Franklin? Yeah.
KevOnStage (4:00)
Oh, Rick Ross.
