Victoria Coates (1:00)

This is something the president had been working on from the first term. It shouldn't have come as such a great shock to everyone.

John Bickley (1:05)

I'm Daily Wire, Executive Editor John Bickley with Georgia Howe. It's Monday, September 21st. This is Morning Wire.

Grammy winner Ed Sheeran does damage control after his concerts become a political battleground over Gaza and Israel.

Ed Sheeran (1:26)

I've tried in my career not to be a political commentator of any kind, but this is a humanitarian issue and I can't hide how I feel about it anymore.

John Bickley (1:37)

Patrick Clancy (1:45)

I saw headlines that said, Killer Mom and Baby Murderer, Monster and none of them were accurate. I believe that it was her mental illness that caused that.

Most of us spend a lot of time planning for the people that we love. You say for the house, you think about the kid's future, you make sure that bills are paid on time and everyone has what they need. Life insurance is really an extension of the same instinct. Nobody enjoys thinking about the possibility that they might not always be there. But there's peace of mind in knowing that you've taken steps to help provide some financial security for the people who depend on you. Ethos has made taking that step surprisingly simple. You can get a quote in seconds, apply in minutes, and potentially get same-day coverage all online. There's no medical exam, you just answer a few simple health questions online. You can get up to $3 million in coverage with some policies as low as $30 a month. It's easy to put off something like this because life is busy and the conversation isn't exactly fun. But taking a few minutes today could mean something very different to your family someday.

Take 10 minutes to get covered today with life insurance through Ethos.

President Trump made a series of consequential announcements over the weekend including a security deal with Greenland and his decision to oust CNN and MSNOW from the White House.

John Bickley (3:18)

Here to discuss that and more is Victoria Coates of the Heritage Foundation. Victoria, thanks for coming on. It's been a minute.

Victoria Coates (3:23)

Of course, glad to be here.

John Bickley (3:25)

So let's start with Trump's battle with the press. What exactly has he announced and what kind of precedent is there for this?

Victoria Coates (3:32)

Well, the whole situation is unprecedented and what it started with is the president canceling all the subscriptions that the United States government has with these various outlets. I remember from when I was at the Department of Energy, I was literally beleaguered by Politico saying, you have to sign up for this $10,000 subscription. You have to have this information. During the Biden administration, this ballooned $8 million worth of subscriptions for people who have access to classified material. They don't need this. So anyway, that's where it started. But I think the reaction was such outrage. The president took it another step and said, look, if you're going to report fake news, you don't need access to the White House. And so we've seen Politico, for example, or CNN rather pack up their things from Pebble Beach and we'll see what happens going forward.
