Hello, hello, are we ready? Today's Tuesday, it's the 30th of June. June is over. We're four days from the 4th of July. Can you believe it? The semi-quincentennial finally upon us. I had a lot of choices in terms of what I lead the newsletter with today, all coming from the Supreme Court. Like, I wasn't sure what should it be. This case, this case, this case. I went with the headline pertaining to the case that determines states are free to count mail-in ballots that arrive after election day, so long as they're postmarked by then, or election officials deem the ballots to have been cast on time. A five to four decision, big loss for President Trump ahead of the midterm election. This is the Mississippi case. This is a Mississippi case that allowed officials to count ballots that are postmarked by election day but arrive for up to five days thereafter. And the poll question I'm asking today is whether you agree with that decision. I don't like the result, but I think it's the correct result. For reasons I'll briefly explain here and will detail on radio today. This interests me. Yesterday, this really popped.
35,335 votes were cast. Which one word would you use to describe the United States? And remember what happened here. The Associated Press asked this as an open-ended question. And then I took a look at their most popular responses and gave those to you as choices, including a word of my own. I said unrealized.
So, your choices, well, I'll just give you that which garnered the most vote. Divided.
Got 22.76% of the vote. Embarrassing.
Got 19.05% of the vote. Struggling. 12.74. Corrupt. 11.23. So, one, two, three, four. Those four had a majority of the votes. Lot of negativity. So much polling this week on America as we approach our 250th. As a matter of fact, I saw another survey from Gallup, which finds that only 53% of US adults are extremely or very proud to be an American. That's going to be my Saturday poll question. Very simplistically, are you proud to be an American? That is going to be the July 4th poll question. And then another I saw from CBS News, will you fly the US flag at home on the 4th? 52% said no, 48% said yes.
