Hello, hello. Hi, gang. Today is Monday. It's the 20th of July. How did you enjoy the beautiful game this weekend? I'll tell you what the real great match was. It was England and France on Saturday.
Just a fabulous shootout. And then the complete reversal of that was to see a one-nil victory for Spain. I was happy for Spain. I thought they deserved it.
In fact, the more that that match went on, the more that I was worried that Argentina was going to win it in penalty kicks, and that would not have been fair. I know many of you disagree. Anyway, I just thought the whole tournament was fabulous. Poll question today for reasons that I will explain in just a moment. Which is more valuable to you?
The benefits of artificial intelligence, and they are many, or your privacy? And of course, there's a reason why I'm asking. Recent poll results at smerconish.com, a couple of surprises.
Speaking of the World Cup yesterday, who will win? And I trust that, you know, you didn't go and vote after it all ended. But this is of significance. 21,000 and Change voted 50.76 to 49.24 percent. That's how close it was. If you're curious, Argentina was expected to win by the slightest of margins, according to those who cast ballots. Saturday, I was surprised by the lack of voting more than anything else. I did a commentary on CNN, welcomed Bill Daley, you know, son and brother of a Chicago mayor, chief of staff for President Obama, just a long establishment deep pedigree, had a conversation about the future of the Democratic Party, and then I posed the question of whether Democrats today need a sister-soldier break with Democratic socialists. Only 35,189, which for a Saturday in July is light, 62.13% said yes, they do need a sister-soldier moment. My suspicion is that people didn't know largely who sister-soldier was. If you watch the CNN program, I did a whole explainer of what happened in 1992 with Bill Clinton, but you know, many people vote without watching the show or listening to the radio program. I get that. They get the newsletter, they look at the question, they vote on it or choose not to vote on it. Friday, agree or disagree, schools need less technology and more pencils and books. 30,538 voted and 73% said, yeah, I agree with that.
Jared Cooney Horvath was my guest last Thursday on POTUS and was just terrific, just terrific. In the same way that Gene Twange pointed out the dangers by smartphones being in every kid's pocket, now it's Dr. Horvath who is talking about what happened when schools all went high tech coming out of the pandemic, and it's not good.
