My name is Ben Greenfield, and on this episode of the Boundless Life podcast.

I had really bad acid reflux. I was told I had two lumps in my left breast, and a man tried to kidnap me at knife point. So I was just like, excessively stressed.

Welcome to the Boundless Life, with me, your host, Ben Greenfield. I'm a personal trainer, exercise physiologist, and nutritionist, and I'm passionate about helping you discover unparalleled levels of health, fitness, longevity, and beyond.
In this episode of the Boundless Life podcast, we're doing a throwback to a conversation that I had with Julie Gibson Clark, and I wanted to re-air this one now, because the gap she exposed has gotten almost comically wide since we recorded. Quick refresher, in case you missed it. There's this leaderboard called the Rejuvenation Olympics. It's where people submit a blood test. It's called the Dundin Paste Test that measures your rate of aging, not your age, but how fast you're accumulating age. Now, Julie is or was at the time of this recording, a 55-year-old single mom in Phoenix making under 100 grand per year, and she was sitting at number two in the world in the Rejuvenation Olympics, aging at about two-thirds the speed of the annual calendar. And ahead of, you know, guys like Bryan Johnson, who is a brilliant dude spending two million dollars a year chasing that same number. Her budget was 27 bucks a month on the gym membership and 79 bucks on a supplement. We talk about all that in this show. I'm re-airing this. This February, Bryan Johnson opened up an elite longevity program. It's a million dollars a year. It's three spots you have to interview to get in. You're required to hire a dedicated assistant to keep up with the protocol. That's just one example of spendy longevity protocols. Look, I spend money on anti-aging and longevity and biohacking, and I probably spend more than the average person on health.
But when you look around at examples like me and others in the industry who are banding about pretty expensive solutions to aging, it's nice to see what the levels are and what you can achieve with just a fraction of that amount each month. Julie is now teaching what she does as a founding faculty at a longevity academy. The two ends of this thing have never been further apart, and the cheap end still gets you pretty far. That's the whole argument of this episode, sleep to protect like it's sacred, walking, rocking, strength training, some VO2 max work, a good pile of vegetables each day, a supplement, prayer, stillness, nothing that you need an executive assistant for per se. Let's go talk with Julie. Julie, welcome to the show.

**Julie Gibson Clark** (2:58)
Thank you, Ben. I am so honored and quite frankly, very excited to talk with everybody today. Thanks for having me.

**Ben Greenfield** (3:05)
Yeah. I've been looking forward to this one for a while. But for you personally, I'm very interested. Have you been interested in longevity and age reversal for a while? I'm just curious what led you up to even considering submitting your blood to a leaderboard called the Rejuvenation Olympics?

**Julie Gibson Clark** (3:23)
Well, we could walk around a bit of a longer block if you don't mind, because longevity, I only really heard about since 2017, but my interest in health and performance and nutrition, that was probably as early as, gosh, I was eight or nine years old. Then we can get into the Rejuvenation Olympics and how I got into that a little bit later if that's okay.

**Ben Greenfield** (3:48)
Yeah, for sure. We have time.

**Julie Gibson Clark** (3:50)
Okay.
I was a swimmer when I was younger. Started probably, I think my older sister was a swimmer as well, so I started pretty young. She's eight years older than me, so I think I'm maybe six, but somewhere around age eight, nine, my dad would go to my swim meets with me, and he'd be like, okay, you've got the 100-meter fly coming up in 30 minutes, let's give you X amount of a Snickers bar, and you need the glycogen load for your muscles.

**Ben Greenfield** (4:19)
I'm eight or nine, I'm like- You're reminding me of me yesterday at my son's Jiu-Jitsu tournament. I'm standing there with a massage gun doing his thighs and giving him a little bar, so he times it properly. Yeah, I know exactly what you're talking about.

**SPEAKER_3** (4:32)
Yeah. That's totally my dad.

**Julie Gibson Clark** (4:36)
But I did feel better in those races because obviously I was practicing all week, but these races where I had the sugar in me or the quote-unquote glycogen load, I was like, whoa, I can really go faster.
