The Rubin Report: Mamdani, 9/11, and the Politics of Media Distortion

We've got two major anniversaries coming up that are really colliding with current politics. The one-year anniversary of Charlie Kirk's assassination and the twenty-fifth anniversary of 9/11. And there's this growing controversy around New York politician Zohran Mamdani and whether he should be anywhere near the city's memorial events.
Yeah, Rudy Giuliani has been pretty vocal about this. He was the mayor on 9/11, so his voice carries weight here. He's saying Mamdani should stay away from official ceremonies, and apparently many survivors' families agree with him. Right, and the argument is that Mamdani plays the victim while showing contempt for America, capitalism, and Jewish people. His political associations alone make his presence at these memorials deeply offensive to a lot of people.
This connects to a broader pattern, doesn't it? How the left talks about America's enemies and their own ideology. Take Abdul El-Sayed and other Democratic figures who seem to soften or blur what socialism actually means. Exactly. El-Sayed said, "I agree that we need public ownership, but I also agree that we need some system of public control." That kind of language is part of what many see as a dangerous and dishonest trend.
The contrast is striking when you look at footage of Donald Trump on 9/11. He called what happened "disgraceful" and said authorities should "attack fast." He went down to support workers at the site. That response showed steadiness and loyalty under pressure. That's the opposite of what we're seeing from today's political class. Speaking of which, what about Gavin Newsom? He's polished, no question, but is there any substance there? Strong political instincts, sure, but his platform still points toward socialism, higher taxes, and policies that have driven people and businesses out of California. Look at the homelessness spending and migration numbers. The model has failed.
Now, shifting gears a bit, the Lindsey Clancy case has revealed something really disturbing about social media distortion. TikTok trends have actually pushed some people to defend Clancy or even blame the husband. That's deeply troubling. Algorithms, distrust in mainstream media, and this flattening of reality online are helping bad ideas spread rapidly. It's not just an American problem either.
Right, this pattern extends to Europe, immigration, and media institutions. Elon Musk said, "The BBC is complicit in the destruction of Britain." That's a pretty serious charge.
And Ted Cruz framed the political choice perfectly: voters can choose between "low taxes, low regulations, lots of jobs" or "Marxism and Islamism." That's the decision facing voters right now, whether they realize it or not.
