Hello, and welcome to The PreCAP, a Daily Show podcast where we sit down with this week's hosts to recap some of the latest news and preview what's coming up next. I'm Jason O. Gilbert, a writer at the show, and I am here with your host for the rest of this week, Mr. Ronny Chieng. Ronny, how are you?

Ronny Chieng (0:36)

Hey, I'm good. This is us actually sitting down and doing it. This is not AI. We are doing this.

Jason O. Gilbert (0:43)

We're doing this. We're doing this. Ronny, I can't help but notice you're not in the studio. Where are you?

Ronny Chieng (0:49)

Well, I am in jolly old London doing some shows, some live shows and I am dedicated enough to phone it in from the most convenient location for me in London, which is my hotel.

Jason O. Gilbert (1:04)

Well, thank you for joining us. And I wanted to start with some breaking news.

That's a pun because you broke your hand, arm.

Ronny Chieng (1:18)

I broke my arm.

For those of you listening in, just take my word for it. I'm showing that broken arm right now.

Jason O. Gilbert (1:25)

What we're seeing is Ronny raising his right hand, and there is a hard cast on it.

Ronny Chieng (1:32)

There's a cast on it. I broke my arm. I got to say, for people who are thinking of breaking their arms, arm breaking technology has come a long way. Because I broke my arm when I was 10, and I was in a plaster of Paris, locked immobile in like an L shape for like six months, just the way I broke my arm.

And it was terrible. And now they have you in these things where you can remove it, you can flop your arm around, they put rods inside your hand, nothing matters anymore. Everyone's like Wolverine.

Jason O. Gilbert (2:06)

Yeah, that looks like it comes off, right? Like for a shower.

Ronny Chieng (2:08)

Yeah, it just comes off.

Can you imagine taking off your cast yourself? Like back in the day? It's just, yeah. But now they figured it out.

Jason O. Gilbert (2:16)

You know what? I've never broken a bone.

Ronny Chieng (2:19)

Oh, I don't recommend it. It really sucks.

Jason O. Gilbert (2:23)

Yeah, it sounds like you sort of did recommend it, but it's fine now.

Ronny Chieng (2:27)

Well, I recommend the treatment options, but not the...

Yeah, it's just a stupid injury. It was on stage. You know, we got a little carried away. Yeah, I was fighting this Indian guy, Hasan Minhaj. I don't know if you guys heard of him. He's just some Indian dude and we do a show where we... He's a minor celebrity. Yeah, I guess. I mean, does he even qualify? We fight on stage and we got a little carried away. And all I can say is, if you...

let's just say I broke... when I broke my arm, it was during a fight with him and the cameras were rolling. In fact, 14 cameras were rolling. So if you want to see what happened, just tune in, I guess, soon. I can't even tell you when, but it's...

Jason O. Gilbert (3:17)

Oh, it's going to be online.

Ronny Chieng (3:19)

It's going to be on... Yeah, it's a comedy special.

Jason O. Gilbert (3:25)

That's amazing. Were you... Did you finish the show?

SPEAKER_4 (3:28)

I don't want spoilers, but did you finish the show?

Ronny Chieng (3:31)

We finished the show, yes. We finished the show.

Finished the show and I went straight to the emergency room.

Jason O. Gilbert (3:40)

Right after the show, yeah.

Ronny Chieng (3:42)

Yes.

Jason O. Gilbert (3:42)

And do you get to break Hasan Minhaj's arm now? Is that how it works?

Ronny Chieng (3:47)

I guess that's how justice works. So yes, I'm going to say yes.

Jason O. Gilbert (3:50)

That's how justice ideally works. That's a horrible lead-in to our first story. Pete Hegseth, our secretary of defense slash war slash bloodshed.

SPEAKER_5 (4:01)

He plays offense and defense.

SPEAKER_4 (4:04)

He's a two-way secretary.

Ronny Chieng (4:06)

He's a two-way player. He's a two-way player.

Jason O. Gilbert (4:10)

He announced that they're going to live stream the execution of the Fort Hood shooter. And Donald Trump recently tweeted, truth, I don't know, announced that they're not going to live stream the execution. Only the families of the victims are going to watch, and it will not be a pay-per-view event or whatever they're planning on doing.

It seems like only Pete Hegseth thought it was a good idea.
