Hello, and welcome to The Precap, a Daily Show podcast where we sit down with this week's host to recap some of the latest news and preview what's coming up next. I'm Kat Radley, a writer at the show, and I am joined today by your host this week, the brilliant, the lovely, the funny and talented Desi Lydic.

Oh my God, really? Thank you. All right, so this week is a Desi hosting week, which is always so exciting, very fun. And we like to start this podcast by kind of looking at what happened recently in the news that maybe we missed or maybe still might trickle into the next week of shows. And the biggest story from over the weekend that has been being hyped for months now was the release of the Christopher Nolan film, The Odyssey.
And we haven't looked at the box office numbers yet. I assume it was huge.

**Desi Lydic** (2:27)
I think, okay, I don't want to get this wrong, but I think it was something like 287 million worldwide.

**Kat Radley** (2:34)
Wow. Okay. Awesome.

**Desi Lydic** (2:36)
Did that sound hyper specific? Like, okay, Alan's fact checking. No fake news here. That was a lie.

**Kat Radley** (2:42)
Yeah. 264 million globally.

**Desi Lydic** (2:46)
Okay. All right. So massive weekend.
I have a confession to make to our listeners. I just want to get ahead of this because I feel like this could get me in trouble. I did not see the movie the way that it was intended to be seen. You know this because you were kind enough to be my plus one. Kat, I failed us.
I got us tickets to see The Odyssey over the weekend. We went. We were 14 minutes into the previews before we looked up and realized this is not the IMAX theater.

**Kat Radley** (3:24)
We were both like, is this IMAX? I don't think this is IMAX.

**SPEAKER_8** (3:27)
This doesn't look big enough to be IMAX.

**Desi Lydic** (3:30)
I don't think this is the way Nolan intended us to watch this movie.

**Kat Radley** (3:33)
And we also we had like, because everyone was like, oh, it's sold out forever. And we looked behind us, there were like empty seats behind us. And I was like, oh, well, there are seats. Like people could have gotten tickets to this. And we were both excited to get like snacks and popcorn. And I was just like, oh, we got to get there early. Cause like the concession line is going to be crazy.

By the way, I offered to buy you the Trojan horse bucket.

You did.
