The Most Important Story Of Our Time

SPEAKER_1 (0:02)

All America, all the time. Sit down, buckle up, and get ready for The Dan Bongino Show.

Dan Bongino (0:10)

Oh, it was a busy week. I am so glad to be back in the studio with you all, and I'm not gonna do a big long weekend or week update with you, but I will say this, just for those of you out there who probably already know this in advance, you know, it's really difficult sometimes. Sometimes to not, you know, to lose the kind of forest or to not lose the forest from the trees. You want to focus on like what's right in front of you, the tree. Don't worry about the whole forest all at one time is what I'm getting at. And it's difficult to do that because there's so much going on in the forest. It's easy to get distracted. And you're worried about what's going to happen tomorrow and next week and next year and all of a sudden what happened yesterday. I'm not, it's not a book club here. However, that guy, Eckhart Tolle, whatever you think of him, he wrote that book, The Power of Now and forget the book for a second. But the essence of what he's saying is true. You live in the now yesterday already happened. So there's nothing you could do about it. And tomorrow hasn't happened yet. So you worry about tomorrow forfeiting the now is insane. I say that because this week and I had some family in town and was it Saturday night, we're all sitting around, chairing a glass of wine with my sister-in-law, my niece and nephew and my wife and my daughter. And we're listening to music and we're watching the Texas, Ohio State. I'm not a fan of either team, so it didn't matter to me. My nephew is a huge Texas fan, watches this big comeback. So for all you, you Texas fans, you know, hook them, you did a good job. Ohio State fans didn't really work out. But it was just like, this is the stuff that really matters. It really matters. Chillin and hangin out with your family and like, just havin a good time for a good time's sake. I got a lot to talk about today. Someone in the chat asked me right before the show, I saw it. Dan, what was the most important story or is the most important story of our time? That's the title of the show today.

I'll answer it for you because I hate teases.

Artificial intelligence, folks.

We're going to do a What We Always Do show today. We're going to apply the Bongino rule, which is we're going to take 24 to 72 hours to process everything that was said over the weekend from one side, we're all going to die, to the other side saying, hey, not to worry about it. We're not doing any of that.

We're going to split the middle and we're going to do what we've always done. We're not falling for the current thing. We're going to hold and we're going to discuss this because it is the single most important technological development of our time, up there with electricity, flight, nuclear power, maybe more powerful than all of them. By the end of today's show, we got a lot to talk about. I think you're going to be comfortable with where we are. But we're not getting into doomerism and I'm not getting into overly optimistic stuff either. Reason matters. Now, I'm going to give you a pretty famous quote at the beginning of the show, too, and this will all make sense. Some of you may have heard the quote before, but it sums this whole thing up.

So Arthur C. Clark had a famous quote that has stood the test of time. It's about any sufficiently advanced technology is going to be, as you see at first, indistinguishable from magic. It just is. Ladies and gentlemen, apply it to anything. When people first saw electricity or learned about radio frequency traveling through the air, they must have been like, how the hell are you talking on that cell phone? There's no wire. Where's it? Where's it going? It looked like magic. Presto change-o, hocus pocus, rabbit out of the hat. It must be real. He created a rabbit out of the hat. The rabbit was there the whole time. Think about the in context of this, think about what the Aztecs and others, when they first saw these, you know, massive ships and the Incas and others, you know, coming over Cortez and all, they must have been like, look at these floating castles. They must have come down from the heavens. What is, that's incredible. It looks like magic.
