His warning is chilling: "If you're trying to stop a human from turning you off, a very natural thing to do as a machine is to eliminate humans." Kelly pressed him on alignment, and Coxon explained it means making AI behave ethically in every situation, not just familiar ones. Current safeguards aren't enough because these systems act unpredictably with unfamiliar problems.
