Folks, welcome back to another game-filled edition of Select Start, the video game podcast for ACMG presents TALK TIME LIVE and talktimelive.com. I am your host, Xavier Josiah, and we got another fun episode full of news and discussions, as well as speculations on games that may be coming soon. We got a lot going on this week in terms of news, some interesting news from based on some games that I've played, some announcements that are made and stuff like that. So we're going to get right on it before I do that. I want to give another happy anniversary to my wife. We celebrated our 20th anniversary this year. We got married on April 6th, 2005, and from that point, it was some of my most cherished years. Of course, like any marriage, it's never perfect and everything, but we strive to put in the effort to make things happen and make things work for both of us as a group and as individuals. And we have done just that. So after 20 years, I'm very happy looking back at what we've done together and could be more grateful to have her by my side. So happy anniversary, my love. All right, let's get on to some gaming news. We got to talk about something that I noticed, and I don't think people are talking about something that happened during the Ken Masters DLC that just released from Fatal Fury City of the Wolves. And if you watch that, if you play that, and I know people have, they did something that I've never seen in any fighting game before, to my knowledge. I don't recall any seeing any, you know, when you play a fighting game, there is the occasional arcade mode, which you know, the traditional arcade mode where you have, you know, each character have their own endings and whatnot. But in Ken Masters' ending of City of the Wolves, because he's a guest character of this and it's a continuing story from everything that happened during Street Fighter 6 Now, I'm I was trying to figure out what the timeline is from the time that him and Terry met, because in the game, Ken is already down in the dumps. And I don't know if the story line says that he was already, you know, proven that he was innocent of the crimes that JP put upon him in the storyline of Street Fighter 6 But I believe it's probably the aftermath by the time, you know, he enters South Town, which is the residence of all the Fatal Fury characters.
I believe that it, I think it does take place after the events of what happened in the World Tour story mode in Street Fighter 6, because he's already saying how Ken Masters has been proven innocent. And one of the characters also speculate that like, is that, are you just saying Ken Masters that was, you know, suspected, you know, of that crime? And Terry had to back him up and say, no, that's, no, he was already proven innocent already. So I think it does state that it takes place after the events of which your, you know, avatar character, you know, experiences with JP. So you have that. But then it goes from there and ends there. And then afterwards, there's actually a post credit scene. And in the post credit scene, it shows Ken and Terry Bogart having a conversation because, you know, Terry Bogart and Mai Shiranui are guest characters on Street Fighter 6 And I had a hunch even back then when they were announced to be on Street Fighter 6 What is this leading to? This reminds me of if anybody have ever played Real Bout Fatal Fury, or Fatal Fury Real Bout, Fatal Fury, what is it? Fatal Fury 2 Real Bout. Ryu Sakazaki from Art of Fighting was a guest character on there. And it was like the first time that two characters from two different video SNK video games, Neo Geo video games, mind you, crossed over. And I felt like that was leading into something back then. Eventually it did. It led into it was like pretty much the prelude to what we now know as King of Fighters 94 And then the King of Fighters series continued on where it involved virtually all of SNK's characters into one fighting game tournament. This kind of gave me a little bit of hint of that as well. And when I saw the end credit scene and in the end credit scene with Ken and Terry, and they're discussing, wouldn't it be cool? Terry's talking about wouldn't it be cool if we got all of our fighters from South Town going up against all of our fighters from Metro City, Metro City being the city that Street Fighters 6 revolve up in the you know involves. So they're having this conversation about a doing a tournament. Last time they did that was SNK versus Capcom. I don't I hope I'm not reading too deep into this, but why would you do a post credit scene? Normally, when you do a post credit scene in any movie that leads, that always means that you're leading into something else. Like it's going to continue to do something else. And of course, who does who does post credit scenes better than anybody? Marvel Studios. Marvel Studios are like they're not the first ever do it. I mean, we've seen post credit scenes forever and you know in the day, but like when Marvel does it, it's a means to connect or continue. It's an epilogue that is supposed to set up seed plant seeds for whatever is coming next. And that became a major thing because everybody does it now. Everybody, you know, use it as a continuing narrative, you know, continuation to the narrative. You know, it's not like, you know, Ferris Bueller or, you know, some of the other, you know, movies when they did that. It was just a one-off. It was just like a one-off thing. No, when Marvel Studios do it, it's a continuation to something that connects. So this felt like they were going to, this is leading into something. You don't make a post-credit scene these days and then talk about something big coming if it's not intentional. You're not going to say that. Like, you're not going to have Terry Bogard say, like, wouldn't it be cool to have a tournament that features all of our South Town's, you know, best going up against Metro, Metro City's best? That's code for SNK versus Capcom. That is code for Street Fighter versus Fatal Fury.
