France is on fire as riots lead to the arrest of some 5,000 quote teens. What's fueling the fiery chaos?
Bev Turner (1:43)
It's completely lawless. This is what happens when you have a society which has treated children like adults, and I would argue adults like children.
John Bickley (1:51)
And Trump weighs in on the Cornell 7 case as New York's governor appoints a controversial prosecutor to take over the investigation. We talked to a legal expert about the latest developments.

Thanks for waking up with Morning Wire. Stay tuned. We have the news you need to know.
President Trump created quite a buzz over the weekend with his announcement of the new Super Intelligence Force. And some quote, crude language on the campaign trail.
John Bickley (2:17)
Joining us now to discuss is our DC Bureau Chief, Tim Rice. Tim, thanks for coming on.
Tim Rice (2:21)
Thanks for having me, guys.

So we're going to get to the Ohio speech. But first, the AI issue has become, you know, a dominant theme in DC in the last couple of weeks.
Last week, Trump had that meeting with the tech CEOs to discuss the future of the technology and sort of self-policing. Now we have this new Super Intelligence Force. What do we know about that?
Tim Rice (2:45)
Yes, the president announced it a couple of days ago and announced yesterday that Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton would be leading the Super Intelligence Force as the administration's AI czar. So really important, I think, to just stop right there and consider that, that, you know, there's all the speculation of who the AI czar would be. Would it be Scott Besson? Would it be somebody from outside the administration, somebody from the industry? And instead, the president picked the Director of National Intelligence, I think, is a strong signal of how he and his administration are thinking of this problem as a national security issue, right? Specifically with regards to the AI kind of Cold War with China. So in addition to Clayton, the FTC Commission Chairman, Andy Ferguson, is on the task force and under several undersecretaries of Defense and the Director of the Office of Personnel Management. So they have 120 days, so about four months, to investigate the trials, the perils, but also the potential, the promise of artificial intelligence and deliver a report to White House Chief of Staff, Susie Wiles. So a sign again, that the White House is not backing down from its full-throated and fast, embrace of AI, not backing away from the president's rhetoric, which says, you know, we can't pause contrary to what the AI industry CEOs are saying. We have to keep going full speed ahead. But, you know, clear sign that the White House is listening, hearing the concerns of the American people, and of, frankly, a lot of Republicans in Congress who are saying, we understand the national security logic here, but it's also important that we figure out what's actually going on.
John Bickley (4:18)
Right, become a major campaign issue, actually.
