People close to the talks say the bill isn't dead. Polymarket still shows a 47% chance that clarity will be signed into law in 2026
The sticking point remains ethics. Trump's latest financial disclosure showed he made about 1.4 billion from crypto last year, and Democrats want the bill to bar senior officials from that kind of profit before they sign on. Strategy sold 3,588 Bitcoin last week for approximately $216 million, a major acceleration from the 32 Bitcoin it sold about a month ago. The company says Proceeds will fund distributions on its preferred stock and replenish its dollar reserve, which stood at 2.55 billion as of July 5th. Salescom at an average price of around $60,000 per coin, well below Strategy's average purchase price. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin says the network is entering its biggest overhaul since the 2022 merge. The plan, called Lean Ethereum, would replace nearly every major piece of the protocol over three to four years. Quantum safety and privacy are the two priorities that have moved sharply up the list.
