**Branson Quirke** (0:36)
I tried to do that like a serious news intro.

**SPEAKER_1** (0:39)
It did sound very serious.

**Branson Quirke** (0:40)
Just because people like to call us goofballs in the comments a lot.

**Karah Rainwater** (0:44)
Are we goofing off today?

**Branson Quirke** (0:44)
Like, these guys are goofy. We should replace these podcast hosts. Well, like, I'm giving you what you want. I'm giving you a serious news report to start this out. Let's start it again.
Welcome to the TMZ Podcast. I'm Branson Quirke.

**Karah Rainwater** (0:55)
I'm Karah Rainwater. Was that serious?

**SPEAKER_1** (0:57)
I'm just a goofball at heart.

**Branson Quirke** (0:59)
How about we just be goofy?

**Karah Rainwater** (1:00)
Yeah.

**Branson Quirke** (1:00)
Sound good.

**Karah Rainwater** (1:01)
That's more natural for me.

**Branson Quirke** (1:02)
Well, welcome, Karah. How are you doing?

**Karah Rainwater** (1:04)
I'm doing good. How are you doing?

**Branson Quirke** (1:05)
I'm doing well.
A bit hungry, you know. I'm trying not to snack here at TMZ.

**Karah Rainwater** (1:11)
It's really hard not to. I find myself just eating Doritos every five seconds.

**Branson Quirke** (1:16)
The audience should know that we are very lucky and fortunate that we have snacks everywhere.

**SPEAKER_1** (1:22)
And they're restocked.

**Branson Quirke** (1:23)
Every part of this office has snacks, Doritos, whatever. And we're spoiled. So let's be honest, but it's hard not to.

**Karah Rainwater** (1:29)
It's hard.

**Branson Quirke** (1:29)
Well, I'm glad you're having a good day. We have a variety of stories to talk about today. This is the afternoon noon edition. So if you're just joining us for the first time, we cover breaking news in the morning on the TMZ Podcast. And then here in the afternoon, I come up here with a fellow TMZ-er and we, Karah, and we talk about what's updated.

**Karah Rainwater** (1:47)
Yeah, let's talk.

**Branson Quirke** (1:48)
So we've been covering this for a little bit, Perez Hilton, and obviously, extremely disturbing situation. Did you see the video last week?

**Karah Rainwater** (1:58)
I didn't, and I'm so glad that I did not.

**Branson Quirke** (2:00)
I know, and I hope that nobody ever has to see this. But if you didn't see what happened in Miami, he was taken to a local hospital, he was put on a baker hold for 72 hours. He continues to be hospitalized. As we speak, possibly he may have been discharged. We just don't know it for a fact yet. But as we know of right now, he is still in the hospital, and they're monitoring him. He's communicating.
He was covered head to toe in blood on a live stream on TikTok.

**Karah Rainwater** (2:31)
So sad. And it went on for a very long time, about 30 minutes, was it?

**Branson Quirke** (2:34)
Exactly, 30 minutes. He was cutting himself. He ended up needing surgery for some of these cuts on his body. We don't know any update regarding his health in terms of that surgery or if that's happened just yet. But really serious situation. We know it was a difficult adapt for him, moving from Vegas to Miami. And his family, really, honestly, he put them first. And I really admire that.
Because he could have stayed in Vegas. He had it all there. But he moved out to Miami because his mom was having trouble living in Vegas. So honestly, I give him credit for that. But he had a near death experience as well. In March, 21 days in the hospital, sepsis and he's been dealing with a lot financially as well. But we do have an update for you from the family. We already spoke about the family in their statement earlier this week. But his sister is now officially speaking out. Her name is Barbara Lavandeira, Perez Hilton's sister. And she spoke to Page Six about the aftermath of the incident, describing it as one of the darkest days in her family's history, I can imagine. Perez was in his bedroom with the door closed and locked, which Barbara said was unusual for him at the time. When Perez would not open the bathroom door or the bedroom door, Barbara used the key to enter and discovered he was in his private bathroom. She knocked and tried to get him to open the bathroom door, but ultimately opening it herself. Barbara said she found Perez naked, cut up, covered in blood and holding a box cutter.
