Hello, and welcome to The TMZ Podcast Afternoon Edition. If you're new here, this is Eric Wilson.
**Eric Wilson** (0:16)
Hi.
**Branson Quirke** (0:16)
Don't get it confused with the ball from Cast Away.
**Eric Wilson** (0:19)
Yeah.
**Branson Quirke** (0:20)
I'm not calling you a ball.
**Eric Wilson** (0:21)
No, that's already fat jokes.
**Branson Quirke** (0:23)
No, no, no, no, it's not what I'm saying.
**Eric Wilson** (0:24)
That's fine, just get to the stories.
**Branson Quirke** (0:25)
No, no, no, no, no, no, that's not what I'm saying. I'm not saying like, like, never mind.
**Eric Wilson** (0:29)
This is on a health kick, he's sending me shirtless pictures of himself at 10 p.m. at night, all right, all right, talking about his transformation. And now he wants to call me a fucking volleyball.
**Branson Quirke** (0:39)
All right, all right, all right.
**Eric Wilson** (0:41)
Just just a little bit of the abuse I suffer here at TMZ.
**Branson Quirke** (0:44)
OK, we all make jokes to each other.
We're all friends, man. Well, we have been reporting extensively on this Perez Hilton incident that happened a couple of nights ago. If you if you didn't see it, it was extremely disturbing.
**Eric Wilson** (1:01)
If you didn't see it, good. Do not.
**Branson Quirke** (1:03)
I was going to say, don't go looking for it. And actually, shockingly, I didn't think the X would do this, but they've been kind of removing it.
**Eric Wilson** (1:12)
Good.
**Branson Quirke** (1:12)
Censoring it. Thank God.
But it was Perez Hilton on TikTok live. And during this livestream, he was cutting himself, self-harm. He was covered in blood head to toe, naked. And at some point, even said that he wanted the cops to shoot him when they showed up. Yeah. It was a psych break of sorts. We don't know any details about exactly what happened, if he was on anything, but there's been a lot of speculation he was taken to a local hospital, and now he's on a 72-hour psych evaluation. Is that a 5150, Eric, or is it something different? It's different. It's extended. Because 5250 is 48 hours, I believe. So we do have more details now about his family because his family was not home at the time of this happening, which changed the way that the cops entered the home. They disengaged for a little bit to be able to monitor the situation before they went inside to then retrieve him, get him on the stretcher, and get him out of there. So they treated it differently than if the family was home. It could have been like a hostage situation, or it would have been more urgent to get inside to essentially rescue them because of his mindset and what he was doing at the time.
But now we've learned that Perez Hilton's children, niece and sister, were inside his Miami area home just minutes before his alarming live stream. According to a new statement from his family, the statement says just minutes before the public live stream incident, Perez's children, niece and sister were inside the home. According to the statement, it became clear Perez was experiencing a severe mental health crisis. He was also harming himself, and family members immediately removed the children from the home to prevent them from witnessing further trauma.
**Eric Wilson** (2:51)
Yeah, so it does sound like that he was self-harming himself while they were still there for a little bit. And then once that started happening, the sister, who was very close with Perez and basically runs the website for him, took the children and they got out and obviously called the police after that. They said that they continue the statement, our highest priority right now is helping the children begin to heal from what they experienced. An important part of that process is allowing them to safely return to the home and begin rebuilding a sense of security and normalcy.
We know that, yeah, he's in the hospital and he's under the psych evaluation now, but he is able to communicate with his family. We're not sure if that's phone calls, text, emails, whatever it might be.
But he is able to communicate, and that has given the family hope. They continue your prayers, kind messages and support for Perez. Your compassionate humanity during this profoundly heartbreaking time has meant more than words can express.
**Branson Quirke** (3:52)
We only saw the live stream in what was happening, so that's what we, the public, saw. But like I'm reading here, when it became clear that Perez was experiencing a severe mental health crisis and harming himself, they immediately fled the scene to protect children from witnessing any further trauma. So they did probably witness a lot before that, especially if they were there most of the day. It just makes you wonder what led him to go into this. We've been putting up stories about prior financial problems. He was in sepsis, landed in the hospital for 21 days, which put him in a really significant financial hole, allegedly. He had moved from Vegas to Miami.
