Hello, hello, hello. Happy Saturday to you, listening. Welcome to Our Take. It is, we said last week we were going to change the cell from ties off shoes off to lights off.
Sacha Barbour Gatt (0:17)
Because we like to record in the dark.
Chris Spyrou (0:18)
Correct. However, Digi has come back. Our digital social team said that we can no longer do that because they want to start cutting up clips for social media. So welcome to Our Take. Our ties are on, our shoes are on and the bloody lights are also on.
Sacha Barbour Gatt (0:34)
I don't have a tie but my shoes are on.
Chris Spyrou (0:35)
Yeah, but it's loosey goosey.
Sacha Barbour Gatt (0:37)
It's loosey goosey.
Chris Spyrou (0:38)
It's a loosey, you know, less formal version of The Briefing where we look back at the week that was and what you and I made of it and what you listening made of it. All still fact checked though. Importantly, always.
We start with a debrief where we debrief and we talk about a story that we couldn't stop chatting about off air. Maybe it's a story that we did get to during the week. Maybe it's a story that we didn't get to during the week. Maybe it's a story that we haven't covered on the pod yet, which is this week's debriefing. Because we haven't covered it yet.
Sacha Barbour Gatt (1:09)
No, we haven't. That's why we're talking about it today.
Chris Spyrou (1:12)
And then we also open up our inbox. We go through some of your DMs, comments and reactions from the week that was. And then it is our brand new weekend quiz where we find out if you've been paying attention or if someone around the business has been paying attention to our headlines.
And then we, of course, capital laugh with The Weekend List where we recommend what to watch, see, do, eat and listen to. And Sacha Barbour Gatt is giving me the eyes that we have not formally introduced ourselves. Hello, Chris Spyrou here.
Sacha Barbour Gatt (1:36)
Sacha Barbour Gatt, we are the hosts of The Briefing. And yes, it is our Chill Saturday episode. And let's start with this week's debrief.
Emma Chow (1:52)
You're a wizard, Harry.
Chris Spyrou (1:53)
This does things to my brain that I cannot explain to you, like the nostalgia, the warm fuzzy feelings.
Sacha Barbour Gatt (2:00)
Maybe some other feelings too, depending on who you are and what your thoughts are. Of course, we're talking about Harry Potter. Now HBO, if you've been living under a rock, is remaking the books into a TV series. We've had the movies. God, the last one came out, oh my goodness, 15 years ago, I want to say. Let me say 2011 You fact check that. Well, I set up the HBO TV series.
They are doing a book, a season, and at the end of last week, we got the second teaser trailer for it. Now, we kept trying to find ways to cover this in the pod, but we just couldn't fit it into the mix, so we thought, why not talk about it in the debrief?
Chris Spyrou (2:43)
Yeah, and you were right. Well, I was right. 2011, Deathly Hallows, part two, 2011
Sacha Barbour Gatt (2:47)
I still remember, I saw it. That's how long I've been with my partner for, because we saw it at the movies together. Yeah, that's why I knew it was like roughly around then, because I knew we'd only recently started dating. But yeah, I can't believe it's been that long since we last saw the movie.
Chris Spyrou (3:00)
I was in year six.
I was in year six, and I do remember also watching it, and my neighbors across the road, that was our thing. We used to go watch Harry Potter movies together, and that was just, what a two-parter ending to that series in movie form.
Sacha Barbour Gatt (3:15)
I will say, they did the Deathly Hallows quite well, but the whole reason I think that, I mean, obviously, let's make money. Let's make a new Harry Potter thing. We know it's not only going to capture all the existing Harry Potter adults, it's also going to capture a new generation of Harry Potter lovers, people who were new to the story, kids and teenagers. But as well, there was a lot of criticism of the movies because they just didn't hit all of the detail in the books, which they just weren't able to. Let's face it, what have you got? 90 minutes to two hours to get it all in. So yeah, that's what we're being told to expect a lot more detail. And yeah, we got this second teaser trailer. Now, we are going to get to the JK Rowling controversies and what people have to say and what you listening had to say about it. We did ask members of our broadcast channel on Instagram to weigh in.
