Have you ever tried to wrap your head around a 2.5 lakh crore IPO demand, or wondered how a 1998 Black Buck case is suddenly dictating police operations in Mumbai today, or even why you'll have to wait until 2027 to actually get your hands on a zero-duty New Zealand kiwi? Hey there, Ayesha Mehta and Karan Rao here.

Karan Rao (0:21)

Great to be sitting down with you today. It is Monday, October 19, 2026, and we are basically laying out the facts on Packing the Jargon and digging into the mechanics behind today's biggest stories for this deep dive. So let's get right into it.

Ayesha Mehta (0:36)

Yeah, let's do it.

Karan Rao (0:38)

CJP Leaders' Custody Extended by Two Days.

Ayesha Mehta (0:42)

So there's this really fascinating piece in the Hindu today covering the cockroach janta party or, you know, CJP.

Karan Rao (0:50)

Right.

Ayesha Mehta (0:50)

Their co-conveners, Saurabh Das and Ashutosh Ranka, well, they just had their judicial remand extended by two days.

Karan Rao (0:58)

Yeah. So they're going to be in custody until Wednesday, October 21 They were produced at the Mandir Marg Police Station in New Delhi.

Ayesha Mehta (1:05)

Right. And this all basically stems from their initial detention back on October 13th over that protest at Jantar Mantar.

Karan Rao (1:12)

Exactly. They're accused of defying restrictions, displaying the national flag and shouting slogans against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Ayesha Mehta (1:22)

But the context around Jantar Mantar is like what's really crucial here. It used to be the absolute go-to designated protest square in the capital, but it was recently denotified.

Karan Rao (1:33)

Right. Which is essentially like the city overnight changing the zoning laws on a public park and putting a lock on the gate, which police say the leaders climbed over.

Ayesha Mehta (1:42)

Yeah. That change in designation completely alters the legal framework of the protest. But wait, the detail that really jumps out of the legal proceedings is what happened on Sunday.

Karan Rao (1:52)

Oh, you mean the threat complaint.

Ayesha Mehta (1:53)

Yes. The special executive magistrate who is hearing their bail matter filed a complaint claiming unknown persons were threatening him.

Karan Rao (2:01)

Which is just a bizarre detail.

Ayesha Mehta (2:03)

Totally bizarre. And the result was the police registering a non-cognizable report.

Karan Rao (2:08)

For those unfamiliar with the term, a non-cognizable report basically means the police can't make an arrest without a warrant, right? They need a court's permission to even investigate.

Ayesha Mehta (2:17)

Exactly. It's usually reserved for minor offenses like public nuisance or petty mischief. So the fact that a magistrate is filing one over threats in a politically charged bail hearing, it adds a very strange layer to this.

Karan Rao (2:29)

It certainly does. Meanwhile, CJP founder Abhijit Dipka took to Axe to publicly claim the state is just using delaying tactics.

Ayesha Mehta (2:37)

Right. His argument is that there are no actual legal grounds to keep Doss and Ronka behind bars.

Karan Rao (2:42)

Yeah. And he claims their bail shorties are being rejected on incredibly vague grounds.

Ayesha Mehta (2:47)

Moving to our next story. Police find key lead in Tiger Shroff firing case.

Karan Rao (2:52)

OK, so I've been trying to piece this one together, and I am genuinely surprised at the scale of the police operation here. NDTV is reporting that Mumbai police have zeroed in on a specific motorcycle purchase from September 11th as the linchpin in this investigation.

Ayesha Mehta (3:08)

The logistics of the tracking are really impressive. We're talking about the recent firing incident targeting Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff and Juhu. Right. The police tracked a Bajaj Pulsar 220, which was traced back to a purchase in Andheri West. And then they basically followed the suspect's movements from northern Mumbai, down to Surat, and eventually to a railway station in Rajasthan.

Karan Rao (3:30)

And they moved incredibly fast.

Ayesha Mehta (3:32)

On Monday morning at 10:17 a.m., precisely, they intercepted the Pune Jaipur Superfast Express at the Kota railway station.

Karan Rao (3:41)

Wow.

Ayesha Mehta (3:41)

Yeah. They found three suspects traveling in the general coach, and the entire takedown took just 15 minutes.

Karan Rao (3:47)

That is fast. And Mumbai police confirmed all three are adults, right?

Ayesha Mehta (3:51)

Yes. Hritik, who is also known as Roshan, he's 18, and then Rehan and Fulsing, who are both 22

Hritik was reportedly driving the bike while the other two fired the shots.

Karan Rao (4:03)

But here is where the mechanics of the story expand beyond a simple shooting. The police state that one of the suspects, Rehan, was in contact with a man named Anil Pondit.
