Noticing Zack Bia’s Career, Matières Fécales at Paris Fashion Week, Flock Cameras and PEN America’s Bias
Good Noticings
October 7, 2026
No matter where you go someone is watching. If you’re Zack Bia, that someone is Drake and sometimes hot girls. If you’re a private citizen, it’s a surveillance org. If you’re a hot new fashion brand, it’s Rihanna.

Welcome to this week's episode of Good Noticings Podcast.
Claire Parker (0:15)
Anything fun on the docket?
Ashley Hamilton (0:16)
Yeah, we're talking about fecal matter. Not poop from a butt, but clothes from Paris. That's how you do it. You're so right. You're so right. You're so right. You're so right.
Claire Parker (0:22)
You're so right. You're so right. You're so right. You're so right. You're so right. You're so right. You're so right. You're so right. You're so right. You're so right.
Ashley Hamilton (0:29)
Matières Fécales.
Claire Parker (0:31)
Yeah, which still means Fecal Matter.
Ashley Hamilton (0:33)
Yeah, but if you say it Frenchly, it sounds-
Claire Parker (0:35)
You kind of sounded Italian, actually.
Ashley Hamilton (0:37)
I am. I was saying it Italian style.
On purpose. As a bit of a political statement.
Claire Parker (0:47)
Oh, and I can't wait to get to the bottom of what her political statement is and what their political statement is.
Ashley Hamilton (0:52)
We are talking about Flock Cameras.
Claire Parker (0:56)
Another political statement.
Ashley Hamilton (0:58)
How are they doing that?
Claire Parker (0:59)
And what are they doing with it? And who's they?
Ashley Hamilton (1:02)
Yeah.
Claire Parker (1:03)
Zack Bia.
Ashley Hamilton (1:04)
Also, who's they?
Claire Parker (1:05)
I have answers. I have answers to all of these questions.
Ashley Hamilton (1:08)
Everyone's been wondering what's Zack Bia?
Claire Parker (1:11)
And then finally, PEN America. Ashley has something new to say about anti-Seminism and Zionism.
Ashley Hamilton (1:18)
I really want to dive into the PEN America statement about anti-Semitism in books and then the Jewish currents rebuttal, kind of, refuting the statements made in PEN America's piece. And I want to talk about what it means to boycott. I think it's a really interesting conversation that they've dug up about a position of anti-boycotting. What is that for?
SPEAKER_3 (1:46)
Interrupted sleep, headaches, constant fatigue. For a lot of women, these aren't three separate issues. In perimenopause and menopause, they're often the same hormonal story.

Support for the show comes from East of Eden, a new show from Netflix.
Claire Parker (2:26)
Ashley, this was your first time reading East of Eden, right, this summer?
Ashley Hamilton (2:28)
Yes. The Netflix series really brought this to life exactly as I pictured it.
Claire Parker (2:33)
Yeah, they really do bring it to life, welcoming this really interesting, like, new nuanced take on Kathy Ames, who's like the ultimate anti-hero and I feel like one of the most famous women in American literature, but often like relegated to monster. It really, I think, breathes new fresh modern life into it.
Ashley Hamilton (2:52)
Watch East of Eden right now, only on Netflix.
Claire Parker (3:00)
But first, my top recommendation is getting tickets to see a live show specifically, Clash Talk. You already know we are coming to Chicago November 8th to be in the 312 Festival. We have an amazing lineup. I'm so excited.
And then just added right now, we are going to be part of the New York Comedy Festival.
Ashley Hamilton (3:16)
We are performing at the Bell House at November 7th. We have incredible guests for both shows. It's a secret for now. We'll tell you later. But I promise you, you're gonna have the time of your life. New York, Chicago, get your tickets ASAP because things are flying off the shelves.
Claire Parker (3:33)
We will see you there. We cannot wait. And now Ashley, do you have other recommendations?
Ashley Hamilton (3:38)
Oh my god, I do. Okay, I feel like I have really good recommendations this week. First off, I just started the show War on HBO.
Claire Parker (3:44)
Oh my god, that's about divorce, right?
Ashley Hamilton (3:46)
Yeah.
Claire Parker (3:46)
You know I love a show about divorce.
Ashley Hamilton (3:48)
No, and it's so confusing for why the divorce is such a big deal, but I feel like there's so much scheming and so much drama that I'm having the time of my life. Every time you meet a character, you go, oh my god, he was a plant. And for all but for a divorce. And I think there's a lot of money involved in this divorce, but it feels like back to the old days of television when a show didn't have to be so staunch and serious, it can just be the most chaotic divorce you've ever seen.
