I feel like my relationship with money has changed a lot as I've gotten older. It mostly used to be about am I paying my bills and putting some money away? Now there are so many moving pieces and competing priorities, so I wanna feel like I know exactly where I stand, not just hope that everything's okay. So that's what I like about Monarch. Having our accounts, investments, savings goals, and spending all in one place, it gives me a much clearer picture. There have definitely been months where I've looked at our spending breakdown and thought, wait, we spent that much on that? Seeing it all laid out makes those patterns really obvious. I also love Monarch's AI assistant. I can just ask questions about my finances instead of digging through transactions myself. It definitely takes some of the mental load out of managing money and helps me feel like we actually know where we stand. So write your own money story with Monarch. Hey everybody, it is Wednesday, October 14th. You're listening to the MoNews podcast. I'm Moshe Oinounou.

Mosheh Oinounou (1:18)

And where we read all the news and read between the lines so you don't have to on this National Dessert Day. Like you need an excuse to have a dessert today.

Jill Wagner (1:29)

We had to explain to our kids, at least to my daughter, like, you know you don't always have to have dessert. Dessert should kind of be special.

Mosheh Oinounou (1:37)

What are you talking about? There's an appetizer, some vegetables, maybe a protein and then dessert, right? Like that's part of a complete meal.

Jill Wagner (1:48)

She'll be about to brush her teeth and go, wait, I just realized I didn't have dessert. And we're like, just brush your teeth. We're going to bed. It's nine o'clock.

Mosheh Oinounou (1:56)

My three-year-old came home from pre-K last week and asked about cereal. She goes, why don't I have cereal?

Because clearly other kids are having cereal for breakfast already at three and we have not gone to cereal yet. So starting to get the whole like, my friends tell me this exists. My friends tell me this exists. Why don't we have that?

Jill Wagner (2:17)

So you should do an Oreo gate where you or Alex texts the class and says, could you parents please not send your kids with cereal to school?

We're trying not to give Olivia cereal. Maybe we could get an ad or something out of it.

Mosheh Oinounou (2:35)

No, no, no. I would never tell other parents what to do with their kids. But by the way, we did learn that Oreo gate was fake. It was just a whole marketing scheme by Oreo cookies, which was genius.

But that wasn't authentic. No, everyone is entitled to send their kids with whatever and then you just got to deal with it. You got to deal with the aftermath at home.

Okay, let's get to some headlines here. Less than three weeks until the midterm elections, President Trump on a midterm blitz, hitting typically safe Republican states where he is headed and a shakeup in Trump world. Kimberly Guilfoyle has officially resigned as the US ambassador to Greece. What the president is saying about her departure.

Mosheh Oinounou (3:16)

It's not often we cover the US ambassador to Greece, but this was a special case. So we'll explain what happened and play a bit of what Trump had to say about her.

Jill Wagner (3:26)

It all comes as the new White House press secretary officially takes the helm. Katie Zacharia had a rocky start at her first White House press briefing.

Mosheh Oinounou (3:35)

Yeah, about 15 minutes, three questions, including at least one she definitely planted with a reporter. We'll tell you what the White House is saying about it.

Jill Wagner (3:42)

A cancer diagnosis for Pope Leo, what we know about possible treatments. Cornell making some changes as it looks to reassure students and staff that it takes sexual assault allegations seriously.

Mosheh Oinounou (3:54)

The school temporarily suspending fraternity events and giving the state police a role in investigating sexual assault investigations on campus.

Jill Wagner (4:01)

We reported yesterday on the person who was killed while riding a roller coaster at Six Flags. So we're looking into roller coaster safety and who, if anyone, is in charge of inspecting the rides.
