That's right, Bonnie Tyler, who sang the 1983 hit Total Eclipse of the Heart. She died unexpectedly at the age of 75

Yeah, apparently it happened in Portugal. She had been receiving some treatment following a surgery according to her family.
Jill, Total Eclipse of the Heart spent a lot of time at the top of the charts, but has been remade, has been in films. I think it was featured on Glee. It's hard to ever sing karaoke without somebody picking Total Eclipse of the Heart. So I think this one hid deep for a lot of people yesterday, at least when I woke up on Friday morning, I was like, with Bonnie Tyler of all people.

So Mosheh, as you and everybody who listens to this podcast knows all too well, I do not have the best voice, but for whatever reason, apparently this is one song that I sing well. I think I sing it in the shower all the time, and my husband's always like, this is your song. This is your karaoke song. For some reason, whether it's whatever chord, I don't know the musical term, but I guess. Octave? Yes, whatever octave it is, I guess works for me.

Yeah. Well, speaking of tone or octave or voice, Tyler did have a signature raspy voice, and apparently it was due to an accident. She had gotten a vocal chord nodule removed in 1977, and she was ordered to rest her voice. But just a day after that, she apparently screamed in anger, permanently altering her voice. Now, of course, it's a very iconic voice, but it got there due to that circumstance.
Her hit song also has an interesting backstory, because she was working with this guy, Jim Steinman. He was a songwriter who is best known for writing many of Meat Loaf's greatest hits. So she loved Meat Loaf's music, connected with Steinman, and Steinman had written Total Eclipse of the Heart. He says, for her, Meat Loaf believes it was meant for him. And so apparently Meat Loaf had a grievance against Bonnie Tyler for many years, being like, that was my song that you stole.
But it's interesting because both Meat Loaf and Bonnie Tyler have those iconic voices.

Now that you mention it, it does feel like it could be a Meat Loaf song.

That's what Meat Loaf would have told you.

But I guess Moshe, it's Water Under the Bridge at this point. It's been decades.

Yeah, and unfortunately, Meat Loaf passed away a couple of years ago. Though apparently he had an issue with Steinman on another song.
You might be familiar with the song, It's All Coming Back to Me Now, Celine Dion. That was also written by Jim Steinman.
Also, Meat Loaf was upset about that one because he thought that was his song too. So Steinman wrote a number of hits for Meat Loaf, but Steinman was prolific. So he wrote this, A Tilted Clips of the Heart, gave it to Bonnie Tyler, and then he wrote, It's All Coming Back to Me Now, gave that one to, I mean, can you imagine anyone but Celine Dion singing it, of course? But Meat Loaf was like, no, no, no, that should have been mine too. Anyway, some background for you guys on this Friday morning.
