Welcome to The TMZ Podcast. We're back, Deven and Courtney here.
Courtney (0:12)
You were both a little sick yesterday.
Deven (0:14)
Yeah, no, yeah, definitely. So back with a lot of big stories. We missed quite the day yesterday.
We'll get into obviously the extremely sad news that Breaking Bad star RJ Mitte died at only 34, which is just absolutely tragic. Obviously played a character on one of the biggest shows ever.
Courtney (0:44)
He was amazing in that show.
Deven (0:45)
Was great. We have a lot of reactions from his cast members, some details about what happened.
He played that and, you know, his mind state shortly before. Selma Blair, obviously, that was another big story yesterday. Chaotic scene on an airplane, to say the least.
Courtney (1:07)
And at the hospital.
Deven (1:08)
Yeah, it was a messy situation.
So she appeared in court last night and her lawyer gave some insight into what exactly happened with Selma on that flight. So we will get into that. And finally, Casey Musgraves is beefing with Kristi Ngo.
Courtney (1:25)
This is funny. This is a random piece.
Deven (1:26)
This is the most 2026 thing of all time. But we will get into that at the very end.
Courtney (1:31)
Yes.
Deven (1:32)
So RJ Mitte, obviously known for playing Walter White Jr. on Breaking Bad.
Courtney (1:37)
Fantastic in that show.
Deven (1:39)
Yes. So he died Monday in Texas. And reportedly, this is being investigated as a suicide. So very sad. The law enforcement people we spoke to. The investigation is still ongoing. Obviously, it just happened yesterday.
But yeah, I mean, it's just-
Courtney (1:57)
Because he was engaged.
Deven (1:59)
Yeah. So he had gotten engaged last October. And he had done a recent podcast with a guy where it's just, we spoke to the guy and he just said, apparently there was just no signs that anything was really wrong with him just two weeks before.
Courtney (2:16)
No, he was talking about his charitable work, upcoming projects that he had. He was out promoting stuff and he just seemed to be in good spirits. And he also hung out with a character, a co-star from Breaking Bad, not a month ago or so. And everything seemed fine. He was happy. He was just engaging, talking about everything that he had to look forward to. So he came out of a show. Everyone seems super surprised by it that knew him.
Deven (2:37)
And I know when these things happen, everyone wants answers or they want there to be some big reason. But obviously, you just never really know, I guess, what someone's going through. And I know a lot of people's sentiment that were his co-stars and whatnot, were to check on the people you love. And so obviously people were interested to hear what Bryan Cranston had to say. And I mean, very, very long statement that basically he just said he was in deep despair as he was writing this and was calling him, he was his son on Breaking Bad, and basically felt like him and Anna Gunn were like his parents on the set, which is who played his wife in Breaking Bad.
Courtney (3:21)
They watched him start as a young child and then grow up to be like this man. But he also said they were texting a few weeks back and they were supposed to grab lunch together, but that never ended up happening. And he was like, I don't know if that would have changed the future, but that's basically something that I'm going to be thinking about now. Oh, for sure. And it's like, you never know what, you can't think that way, you don't want to put that on you. But it is like super sad, and you can just tell how much RJ meant to him.
Deven (3:43)
No, for sure. And I mean, when you lose someone, you go through your phone and you see what your guys' last conversations are, and it's just heartbreaking, because I feel like we go through life and we have a bunch of stuff going on, and sometimes you don't make time for people, and then you never know when the last time you're going to see them, which kind of sounds like kind of what Bryan Cranston was struggling with. Obviously, he put the, I can't stop there without imploring anyone who is contemplating suicide to please call the support line, so obviously.
Courtney (4:14)
I know that he said, I'll miss you, son. I know. Which was just so sad.
Deven (4:17)
And then Aaron Paul also said, posted on Instagram, basically saying, I love you, my friend, you will be missed, and whoever happens to be reading this, please know you are loved and you're not alone. Always remember that. And that was actually, I don't even know if Aaron Paul actually has social media. I think that was a statement he released.
