Hey, welcome to The TMZ Podcast. I'm Branson Quirk.

**Kara Rainwater** (0:41)
I'm Kara Rainwater.

**Branson Quirk** (0:42)
How's your Friday going, Kara?

**Kara Rainwater** (0:44)
It's going pretty good, and not gonna lie, I'm ready to get it over with.

**Branson Quirk** (0:46)
You are the one that posts all of the viral TMZ social media videos that you see on your phones. Anything burning today that you're breaking before we get into what we're gonna talk about today?

**Kara Rainwater** (0:58)
I'm not gonna lie, it's been a slow day.

**Branson Quirk** (1:00)
Slow day?

**Kara Rainwater** (1:01)
Yeah, it's been kinda boring. I just made a video on Nara, the influencer, her daughter. Like sad stuff, nothing breaking on her.

**Branson Quirk** (1:08)
Really? Okay. Well, we have a few stories to talk about today. So David, the mystery continues with him. And as we know, he's going to trial for the death of Celeste Rivas. He's been officially charged for, as we know, and if you are not caught up with this, listener discretion is advised just based on the details of exactly what happened. Her body was found dismembered inside of his Tesla. The Tesla was abandoned.
They eventually did charge him. It took a very long time to charge David. Were you following this case when it started?

**Kara Rainwater** (1:44)
I was. Yeah, this case is a big deal. This is absolutely crazy.

**Branson Quirk** (1:48)
He remains jailed, awaiting trial currently. He's been charged with the alleged murder.
And they claim that it happened in April of last year. Now something happened today that lit off some alerts.
A mysterious, previously unheard song attributed to David appeared on Spotify before being removed just hours later. So it popped up on the platform and then it just disappeared hours later. There also was a music video attached to this that has also been removed because it was attached to that. You know, Spotify has video now. So it was attached to the song that's now archived. The title of the song was was Marcessence.

**Kara Rainwater** (2:33)
Is that how you say it? Yeah, looks like it. Marcessence.

**Branson Quirk** (2:35)
Marcessence. And it remained available for approximately eight hours on Thursday before being scrubbed from Spotify and it is no longer playable on the platform. So the real question here and what remains unclear is who uploaded the song, whether David had any involvement in its release and when it was submitted to Spotify.
So I don't know. I have a theory about this.

**Kara Rainwater** (3:02)
What's your theory?

**Branson Quirk** (3:02)
That's why I wanted to talk about it. I know it's kind of a nothing burger story in terms of the David process and the progress of the case, but I feel like it was a test maybe by David, by David's team, maybe he had a part in orchestrating this. Just to see what kind of response would materialize from releasing a new song.

**Kara Rainwater** (3:26)
You know what? I kind of believe that, but the same, it's just so sick. Like that shouldn't be a priority. That shouldn't matter right now. Like it's just a sad situation.

**Branson Quirk** (3:34)
And his brother, have you seen what his brother is doing?

**Kara Rainwater** (3:37)
Yes, his brother is like totally against it because people are coming for him as well because he has some music career. Right.

**Branson Quirk** (3:43)
His brother has been releasing music as well recently and he's got a lot of flack and I get it. I understand we can't stop someone from living their own dream because of something that their brother or sister did. But timing wise, I wasn't a big fan of the timing.

**Kara Rainwater** (4:03)
I think the timing was, he said he was making music before this, but it's kind of like, I don't know, I feel like it's a little bit insensitive because he is largely connected to David, so. Oh yeah. Yeah.

**Branson Quirk** (4:12)
Very largely connected and it's just one of those things where no matter what you do, optics is everything. So you upload a song in the middle of this beginning of all of the attention on this during the media, what it comes off as is that you're trying to get attention, you're trying to capitalize on Celestrius' murder, all the attention on your brother to say, hey, I have music too, check out my music.
