Dave Hughes (0:46)
Good morning to you and yours. How are you doing?
A lovely Friday morning, beautiful weather, and it's going to get better. That's the best part. Temperature-wise, it's going to get fantastic. On this day, it's a special day, isn't it, Rhino? What day of the week is it?
Griffin Ray (1:06)
It's Friday, yo.
Dave Hughes (1:07)
Yeah, baby. And we are... I don't know about you, I'm ready. Are you ready? Oh, yeah. And I was having a conversation before we came on the air, old friend of mine, and we were talking about how...
How do I put this? How insane life has seemingly become. We went from, you know, everything just... Every day, something happening, something going on. And now we seem to be in a situation where the pace is picking up, the expenses are picking up, the stress is increasing. How long before?
Not even necessarily a majority, but a large number of people just burn out. They're just done. They check out.
SPEAKER_4 (2:03)
I think we're already in the beginnings of that.
Dave Hughes (2:06)
Yeah, I do too. And I don't think we're ready for the repercussions of that when it happens because we've always, in my lifetime anyway, there's always been an expected baseline of interest and activity and drive and determination. And that's withering away. It's not really withering. It's being beaten to death.
This is not sustainable. And I mean that. I know you think I may be talking about economically. I may be talking about politically. It's all of that rolled together, but it's just mentally.
SPEAKER_4 (2:53)
Yeah, it's the information overload for brains not evolved to recognize this many faces, let alone take in this much information this quickly.
Dave Hughes (3:04)
Yeah. You know, once upon a time, not that long ago, in my grandparents' time, you had about 5, 10 people outside the family that you knew really well, and that was it. That's basic. That was your friend group. And now everybody's personal life is not just open. People throw it at you continuously all day, every day. And like you said, human beings are not equipped to deal with that. You take the fact, and this is going to be funny for me to say this on this show.
Not everything, all right, sit down. I don't want you to get busy and weak and stumble when I say this. Not everything relates to politics. It doesn't. And the fact that we desperately try to shoehorn politics into everything has made life and the world worse, in my opinion.
You know, you can have too much of a good thing. The old expression that my mother used all the time. Every so often I use it, but not thinking about it, and people will look at me and go, I've never heard that one. Sometimes you can get too much sugar for a dime. You want a good dime's worth, yeah. But when they just keep piling it on and piling it on, eventually, the diabetes kicks in, and that's kind of where we're at. Now, a great example.
Did you see the Tesla Roadster demo last night, Rhino? I did. That was cool. It's completely unpractical. Immediately got into a big discussion with my wife, and as usual, we were of a like mind on this.
That's not going to work on the roads. And I don't think it's intended.
SPEAKER_4 (5:13)
It's not on American roads, no.
Dave Hughes (5:15)
No.
SPEAKER_4 (5:16)
I guarantee you, there will be videos of Saudi princes doing that on the highways in Saudi Arabia within six months.
Dave Hughes (5:24)
You're not wrong. The problem is that I think people kind of misunderstand it, but immediately, immediately, and I know you saw this too, everybody start, well, there were two things. Number one, this is AI.
Not everything is AI.
SPEAKER_4 (5:45)
It was a live event.
Dave Hughes (5:47)
Yes.
SPEAKER_4 (5:47)
With people in attendance.
Dave Hughes (5:48)
It was a big giant crowd there, standing there watching it. It was definitely not AI.
And the other thing is, immediately, everyone jumped on and started talking about Elon's political preferences and how much money he spent on all of this and this. Yeah, the eye roll was perfect right now because that's exactly what I'm talking about. We need to be able to release this stuff to the extent that we can enjoy things because they're things.
