SPEAKER_2 (1:06)
Good morning, everyone.
Gerard Gibert (1:08)
And welcome to MidDays, SuperTalk Mississippi. I'm your host, Gerard Gibert, along with Rhino in the Element Well studio, guiding you through the middle of your day with Facts, Fodder, and Fine Music on this Friday Eve. Okay, so the president has sent a change of heart, it appears, Rhino, on the live streaming of the execution of the convicted mass killer, Nidal Hassan, just announced that earlier this morning.
Overrules the Pentagon. The Pentagon is the one that made the decision to live stream the execution, and the president just said, no, he ain't gonna do that. So, hmm, not sure what's going on, if he shared a reason behind that or not, but it looks like that ain't gonna happen as far as live streaming.
SPEAKER_2 (2:03)
The reporting I saw was that the conversations happening behind the scenes indicated Trump was unaware that the terrorist is in a wheelchair.
Gerard Gibert (2:16)
Oh, okay. I don't think I knew that. In a wheelchair. Okay.
So, that figured into his decision to override the Pentagon, who planned on live stream.
SPEAKER_2 (2:29)
He's all about the optics.
Gerard Gibert (2:31)
Okay. Well, I tend to agree with him. I'm not sure overall, whether he's in a wheelchair or not. I think there is some concern about the optics.
It just depends. Sure, there's some people that would draw a rock for this.
SPEAKER_2 (2:46)
It depends on which angle you're coming from. If you're coming from the angle of you can't shoot somebody in a wheelchair, that's kind of like that you wouldn't hit a guy with glasses. But living differently able doesn't make you any different. So agree. That's an asinine angle to take. But the angle that I think a lot of people are taking, that I just can't wrap my head around because it seems like they're ignoring reality is, well, you can't make them a martyr because you'll just make more terrorists.
Then you're ignoring the reality of Islam because we dropped the sun on Japan twice, and we're buddy-buddy with them now. So killing people that are bad people doesn't make more bad people unless they're bad people to begin with.
Gerard Gibert (3:32)
Yeah, I'm not sure that that has an impact. I agree with you. I think the question is, is just the overall appropriateness of live streaming it.
I mean, it starts to make me think, okay, are we going to make that like required viewing in our schools, for example? You know, you have to get everybody to assembly so we can go watch the execution of this madman. I don't know.
It's a tough one, honestly.
SPEAKER_2 (4:02)
I mean, before the days of mass media like radio and television, public executions were a public party.
Gerard Gibert (4:09)
That's exactly right. They were. But should we advance beyond that? I don't know. And even though they were, you're right, they were public executions.
Like, would you bring your family, like family entertainment, let's go show up and watch them kill a person? I don't know. It's a complicated matter. But the President Trump has decided not to live stream, overriding the Pentagon on this particular issue. That just literally announced this morning. That's his final decision, it looks like, at this point. And what date is that scheduled for? It's the date and time, right? The precise time of day at which this madman carried out these brutal acts of terror. Thirteen, I believe, assassinated. It's thirteen that he killed, I should say. Call it assassination if you want.
It's like at some particular time of day that corresponds with the time he carried out those executions.
SPEAKER_2 (5:15)
Yeah, it's scheduled for December 3rd at one o'clock, and I believe he was beginning his terroristic attack around one o'clock.
Gerard Gibert (5:24)
Okay. So I actually think that's totally appropriate, honestly. I think it just calls attention to and emphasizes, highlights the reason that the execution, his execution, is being carried out. So I think that's well thought out. Wouldn't have thought about that. Yeah, let's do it at the exact same time. And it's not a secret. We know exactly what time had occurred.
So, switching gears a bit, girls' high school track team walks off the track there, the field of competition, in unison, embraced out in Washington state because they're protesting a dude in a dress who's running in the race here. And did you see this rhino? He's like 76 or something like that in the state competition among boys. So just looking to notch some sort of win here, running against, competing against the females. Unbelievable.
