Dave Hughes (0:58)
Good morning to you on a whatever day this is, Wednesday, isn't it? I think it's Wednesday. Yeah.
I hope you're having a wonderful day. We're going to make it through three hours of everything going on. And as usual, there's way too much of that. Dave Hughes in the chair today, Rhino in the box. How you doing, sir?
Rhino (1:18)
Howdy, howdy.
Dave Hughes (1:20)
It is Wednesday, right?
Rhino (1:21)
Oh yeah, it's a hot day.
Dave Hughes (1:22)
Okay. Okay. Just making sure.
I can't keep up anymore. I just roll out of bed and start walking, and then things happen, and then I go back to bed. That's basically my entire schedule. How are things going with you?
Rhino (1:37)
I'm just a little disappointed in the weather, man, because a few weeks ago, I was looking at this week on the extended extended outlook, and they were promising highs in the 80s.
Dave Hughes (1:47)
We did not get highs in the 80s.
Rhino (1:49)
No, we did not.
Dave Hughes (1:51)
No, we're close. Last thing I saw is pretty much, we're going to stay where we're at for most, if not all of the month of September now. So, yay. I've talked about this before, and admittedly, I go back a little further than you do.
Just a matter of timing. That's all that was. But when I was in high school, and even after high school, when you went to high school football, everybody had their jackets on, they had hot chocolate in the concession stand, and now everybody's in flip-flops and shorts carrying a fan. It's a little different.
Rhino (2:36)
Yeah, but school didn't start till after Labor Day, didn't it?
Dave Hughes (2:38)
That's very true. But guess what? We're after Labor Day, and we're still in flip-flops and shorts and sweating. So, still some stuff there.
This is part of the problem with the whole climate change argument, because everybody's screaming, we did it. This is our fault. Look what you've done. Now your kids are sweaty on Friday nights. It's all your fault. And this just happens. This is part of the cycle of living on a planet. If you'd like to live somewhere other than a planet, go ahead. You can fully control it. Otherwise, it's going to do what it wants to do. It's going to follow its usual cycles and its usual patterns. And we are in an upswing. My entire life plus, we've been coming out of the last ice age. We've been on the way up the entire time.
This is not unusual. This is just the way things are. And we have to learn to cope with it and deal with it. Having said that, I am really, really thankful for air conditioning. I don't know, the mothership there, the home office you're in, you know, we have two temperatures, as we have famously said. You're either freezing to death or dying.
But can you imagine that building without air conditioning?
Rhino (4:07)
I mean, I've been in this building without air conditioning. It's a bit muggy.
Dave Hughes (4:11)
Yeah, boy, that's a nice way to put that. It's not feasible long term. So the weather is what the weather is. Been that way for centuries, for millennia. And all you can do is wake up and deal with it as best you can. Having said that, let's just go ahead and get right into the GFS model. Have you seen the latest GFS model for the Gulf? The long term one, which basically is meaningless, but there's a long term GFS model that has out a run that has a massive hurricane right smack dab in the middle of the Gulf in two weeks.
Now, several things. And you're gonna see that, I'm sure, floating around Facebook if you're not a weather nerd that just watches model runs for fun. Some of us are in that category.
You're gonna see it on Facebook. It's gonna be a deadly hurricane. You know, there's gonna be panic-inducing words in the listing. This is a long-term GFS model.
It's just a model run. It's one model run. You don't have anybody else agreeing with it. And that far out, tell you what, I'm gonna predict a swarm of bees in the Gulf. And I have just as much chance of being right as that GFS model does. But we are in panic land these days, and everybody's supposed to panic about anything. Were you able to call it up? Do you see it? It looks scary. Oh, yeah. It looks scary as all get out. If it came true, yeah, that would be the show the entire day, getting ready for that.
