Hello and hello and hello and hello and hello and hello and hello. Welcome to the Naughty But Nice show. I'm your host Rob Shuter, and it is Thursday, which means that our dear friend Mark Looper joins us. Hey Loopy, are you there?

Mark Lewis (0:22)

Loopy Lewis here.

Rob Shuter (0:23)

Hey Rob. Hey, we had a fun Monday night so we were at an event together. You, me and Delaney, the three of us in the same place. It was great, Gloria Estefan was the host. It was an amazing charity. We talked about it here on the show. And Mark, sitting right next to us, it was fun to see you.

Mark Lewis (0:38)

It was great to see you guys. And we enjoyed a few glasses of wine and laughed and caught up. We did enjoy it as if it's no more.

Rob Shuter (0:44)

As if let's jump into our show. What time is it, my friends? It is tea time. Big exclusive at the top of the show. So Meghan Markle has exploded after her tea. Because of a big mistake and also too, she's struggling to hire people in Britain. Let me explain. So Meghan posted a video. I thought it was a sweet video.

It's her and Lilibert making jam together. And it's the first time we actually hear little Lilibert's voice. She asks, how, what do you think, Lilibert? And she said, it's beautiful. It's very, very sweet. However, eagle-eyed, not just fans, anybody that watched that video, will notice the stove was not on. So the jam was bubbling away, but the stove wasn't actually turned on. There was no flame. So it's clearly stage. This is a problem, particularly if people don't think you are authentic. If you make a mistake once, if Martha Stewart makes a mistake, we know she's the real deal. We really do. Meghan has to be careful because these little things, and they are little things, they shouldn't happen. And her team, I do have some defense here. I wish somebody on her team had helped, had said something. So I'm hearing Meghan exploding at her team. But the real reason she's furious is she's been trying to hire people in Britain.

She hasn't really been that successful. A couple of things. One is that Brits remember what it was like working with her six years ago. And the horror stories that have gone around London of working with Meghan. And that's when Meghan was still part of the royal family and somewhat restrained in how she could behave. When you're part of that institution, you got to play by their rules. Well, now she's unleashed. Now Meghan can be Meghan. And it is a lot. It must be very difficult, though, trying to run a business from London. When I was back in London a few weeks ago visiting my mum, Mark, it was quite tricky checking in with New York. The five-hour time difference was quite a lot. California's eight hours. It's almost a different day. So I do understand the complications of doing business on different coasts. LA, London, New York, it is tricky.

But blaming your team here, I don't know if that's a very good smart move either. What do you think?

Mark Lewis (2:56)

No, it's not good or smart. I think part of the problem is that she is being interviewed by these people. When she's interviewing someone to work for her, they have to also look and say, do I want to work for this person? The people that she probably wants to hire have option. They don't have to take her as a client and they don't want the headache and the drama that goes along with it. Because so many people have left her team over the last few years, she's been so highly publicized. Why would a talented publicist get involved in this?

Rob Shuter (3:25)

I think it's a real tell sign. When I interview for a job, when I post a job opportunity, I have a ton of response. When I look at the team just on our little podcast, it's the five same co-hosts. We've been here for five years now, chatting away. I think it's because it's a pleasant environment. It is. It's a fun thing to do once a week. I do it five times a week. You do it once a week. Delaney says, it's fun for 20 minutes to gossip away and to do this and practice our skills and connect with the the noughties. I don't know what the upside is of working with Meghan because you're not going to get much access to the royal family because they're clearly not part of that. So if you have fantasies of hanging out with Katherine or the Queen or the King, that ain't happening. You ain't going to go to the Tower of London and look at the jewels with Meghan. She's not going to be invited to that stuff. And so if she has a reputation, which she just confirmed, if she exploded at her team over this mistake, it is embarrassing. It is a mistake. This is why you have staff. And so I get her being upset about it. I certainly would go to my team. I'd send a pleasant email, but I'd say we should have a little chat about this because it's not working. I'm in the UK making videos or my team is in California. I think somebody might have to move to Britain, or maybe we'll have to hire somebody in Britain. Or before we post these videos, if she's emailing these videos, I don't think she's posting them or editing them herself. If she's emailing them to LA, there should be somebody on the Zoom who says, Meghan, we have to reshoot that.
