This is a Global Production.
Gabby Logan (0:05)
So, I'll go from the top. Hello and welcome to The Sports Agents. The Premier League is back, and after weeks of scrutiny in the boardroom. Oh no, I see intonation was all wrong there.
Nedum Onuoha (0:15)
Can I just jump in there? Are you happy with the banana bean on the table there? Is that okay in the shot? Because I've just looked at a shot of the two of us, and I don't know, it's felt like a bit of a metaphor, banana skin just there, something's about to happen.
This is probably the biggest story in the history of English football. I'm in very much a compromised position because I still do work for the football club now. I saw the amount of work that went in for those players to even be able to contend for a title. This is grift as paradise these last two weeks. There'll be some rabid journalists that will push and push and push and push and push.
Gabby Logan (0:46)
Rabid, he called you a rabid.
Mark Chapman (0:48)
I'm definitely not a rabid journalist, but equally, Nedum, you don't know what I used to chant at you when you played.
Gabby Logan (0:54)
So, as a city player, would you start to be concerned that at the end of this season, you might not even have a club to play for. You might have to be sold because you're going down the divisions.
Nedum Onuoha (1:03)
This is genuine crisis time.
Gabby Logan (1:15)
Hello and welcome to The Sports Agents. So the Premier League is back and after weeks of scrutiny in the boardroom, the focus turns to Manchester City's players and the first match since the guilty verdict is of course at Anfield. So can Enzo Maresca's men shut out the noise and maintain their perfect start? Well, the city case has also raised bigger questions about spending rules. Are they fair? And if they're not, how would you fix them? There are of course 19 other clubs and some have got their own problems. Manchester United and Spurs meet this weekend. Is it too early to call this a must-win game? And after walking out of the camp and calling the manager a liar, is Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal career over forever?
Hi, Chappers.
Mark Chapman (1:54)
That was a very dramatic forever. That was like you were doing a movie voiceover.
Gabby Logan (2:00)
Forever. Trying to get some extra work.
So I've got Nedum here today. You're in Manchester. One day all three of us will be in the same room.
Nedum Onuoha (2:10)
I don't believe that for a single second, by the way. I don't believe that. Chappers doesn't want me around. You tend to not want me around. So I just happen to be here now.
Mark Chapman (2:18)
I think you'll find, Nedum, I've spent more time with you in the studio than Gabby. Not that this is a competition, but.
Nedum Onuoha (2:25)
Yeah, but I mean, you technically do live in around Manchester, so that is to be expected.
Mark Chapman (2:29)
So there are only a certain number of excuses I can come up with to not be in the studio with you. Before, before, before.
Gabby Logan (2:37)
I was going to say, the week that has just passed and everything that's been going. Oh, that as well. International week, yeah.
The week that has just gone by. The one thing you want to talk about, Chappers, this totally sides with me. Go on.
Mark Chapman (2:56)
Baseball.
Gabby Logan (2:58)
Yeah, the Yankees are out, aren't they? Yeah, the Yankees are out.
Mark Chapman (3:01)
But have you seen how they're out?
Nedum Onuoha (3:03)
No, go on.
Mark Chapman (3:04)
So they're playing Tampa Bay. A Yankees batter hits the ball out to deep field or whatever they call it. I've never really covered baseball, so you have to excuse me on the terminology, right? And as the ball heads towards the wall, because you know in baseball, obviously the fans are above the wall, the Tampa Bay fielder jumps up with his glove to get it, but he can't reach it. But the fans lean over the wall and one of them catches it and then takes it into his grasp and they call home run. And the guy runs around and there may have been a couple of other batters on base, I don't know. And that then gives the Yankees whatever, two runs, three runs, takes them into the lead. However, they use their equivalent of VAR and they see that the fan has leant over and caught the ball when it would have, even though it would have still gone over the fielder, it would have hit the wall and not gone for the home run.
