Keffe D Found Guilty in Tupac Shakur Murder

Huge news. One of the biggest unsolved crimes, I feel like, of like the last few decades.

**Courtney** (0:31)
Yeah.

They found Keffe D Davis guilty in Tupac Shakur's murder yesterday.

**Courtney** (0:38)
Insane.

**Deven** (0:38)
Unanimous decision. So we will get into, you know, why they came to that conclusion. And also it seems like obviously, as we've seen these type of cases, he will be appealing. So this is going to be a never ending saga.
It always is. And then also Hayden Update, not in her case, but we obtained some photos of Brian Hickerson, her ex-boyfriend who obviously had a pretty checkered past. We obtained a photo from one of his arrests last year. And it's a very bizarre scene to say the least.

Yeah. OK. So Keffe D.
So the Las Vegas jury yesterday found him guilty of first degree murder in the killing of Tupac Shakur.

**Courtney** (1:27)
It's the very first conviction ever to do with the case.

**Deven** (1:30)
Yeah, because, I mean, obviously, there was a lot of mystery surrounding it.
There's a lot of kind of shady characters that were involved. No one really talked to cops, you know, street code, all that stuff. So, yeah, now all these years later, almost 30 years after his death, we have a conviction. He's facing life in prison. Obviously, he's already told the judge he does plan to appeal, but it was a unanimous decision. The interesting thing here that I think a lot of people don't realize, though, is that he's not, the prosecutors weren't going after him for actually being the one to shoot Tupac.

No, just for giving the gun to his nephew.

**Deven** (2:06)
Right, and his nephew is no longer with us.

**Courtney** (2:09)
No.

**Deven** (2:10)
So, he obviously can't be brought to trial. But yeah, so it was almost like he was calling the shots to have him killed.

**Courtney** (2:17)
Yes.

**Deven** (2:17)
But he wasn't actually the person who pulled the trigger, allegedly.

**Courtney** (2:21)
But his defense is saying those are all just like tall tales. They're all lies. Because Keffe D said it in his book.

**Deven** (2:27)
Well, Keffe D is not the smartest guy in the world. He did podcast interviews. He wrote a book.

**Courtney** (2:36)
Yes.

**Deven** (2:37)
Basically detailing all this stuff, because maybe in my opinion, he's like, all right, it's been long enough. Like, I haven't gotten trouble at this point.

**Courtney** (2:44)
But whenever someone talked about the Tupac murder, everyone wanted to know, it never lost him. It never lost interest. People always want to know what happened. There was links to like Diddy. There was all these like massive like things. And it was like, what happened?

**Deven** (2:55)
Obviously Tupac was one of the biggest rappers in the world at the time. But yeah, and I mean, his defense, when you like be like, hey, what about when you literally openly admitted to it in your book or what about when you like talked about it on this guy's podcast, they were basically just being like, oh, he was just fabricating stories. It wasn't like he was actually confessing to these crimes.

He had told these before and that's why he was never charged because everyone knew. He didn't testify himself and I wonder why, because he seemed to like talking a lot.
All his podcasts, interviews, books.

**Deven** (3:27)
Yeah, the guy loved talking about things. But yeah, but until it was time for the court case and then all of a sudden he had nothing to say. But that was probably, I would imagine, at the direction of his attorney, who was a pretty big profile guy, I believe, out of Vegas. So yeah, I mean, the defense only called three witnesses. Obviously, he didn't testify. The trial kind of came and went.
And he will be serving life in prison until he appeals. That's a problem I have with just our justice system. And I mean, I'm not the guy that has the answers. But obviously.

Yeah, I don't have answers.
But it just seems like it's like these people, you spend all these money and resources and all this time on these court cases. And they come to unanimous decision pretty quickly. But then it's like, oh, then he can appeal. And then we got to get a new jury. And then it's like, it's like, we run it back. It's like, I just, I don't know. I just feel like this isn't the last we've heard of Keffe D.
