Health, Performance, Nutrition, Longevity, Ancestral Living, Biohacking, and much more.

My name is Ben Greenfield. Welcome to the show.

All right, as promised, I got my guest back, the guest who first appeared on the podcast episode, Why Strong People Are Harder To Kill And How To Get Strong. In that episode, we geeked out on single set to failure training and the use of even some of these almost like exercise biohacks or these efficient exercise pieces of equipment called the ARX machines. We talked about that, we talked about muscle gain, fat loss, whole bunch of cool stuff.

And today, I decided to get this guy back on the show because he's been up to a bunch of stuff, everything from peptides to plant medicine to psychedelics, a little bit of alliteration there, you name it. His name, if you haven't guessed yet, is Keith Norris. So Keith is very well known these days in the health sector as the founder of PaleoFX. Something else we're gonna talk about today because it's basically one of my favorite health and fitness conferences that I go to every year, period. But he also has a deep history in the realm of fitness, in the realm of physical culture. He walks the walk. He's constantly up to something new whenever I see him and just a wealth of knowledge when it comes to bringing your body to the next level. He's also incredibly well connected in the health and fitness world, and he'll be sharing some of the stuff you can expect at PaleoFX this year as well, because he's responsible for getting a lot of the cool cats at that conference, in that conference. So everything we talk about today, you can grab the links for if you go to bengreenfieldfitness.com/paleo2020. That's bengreenfieldfitness.com/paleo2020. Since Keith is the founder of PaleoFX, I figured that'd be an appropriate URL. Keith, welcome back to the show, man.

Keith Norris (2:13)

Ben, it's great to be back and chatting with you, brother.

Ben Greenfield (2:16)

Yeah, are you done in Austin right now? I am.

Keith Norris (2:20)

Nice 75 degrees here right now. Not a bad, not a bad November.

Ben Greenfield (2:25)

Yeah, you were telling me before we got on the show that you recently got back from Burning Man. You were saying that that was something you resisted going to for a long time and now you're full on burning.

So what was your experience like there?

Keith Norris (2:40)

Dude, let me tell you, drug my heels for years. People could not get me to go out there because I had this misconception of Burning Man as being I don't know, a Coachella, a Bonnaroo, something like that on steroids.

And I was like, you know, I don't know if nine days of a Coachella or, you know, Bonnaroo type situation.

I think that ship has sailed for me, you know, I'm a little bit older now, a little bit wiser now. I don't want to roll around in the mud and the muck and and do all that. But a number of people, you know, told me that's that's a misconception of what Burning Man is, although they could not explain to me what it was, right. And so then I would ask them, well, I have this conception of it being like this. And they were like, it's not like that. And I was like, well, then what is it like? And they're like, you know, they would take this deep breath and look at me and go, can't even explain it, man. You're just going to have to go check it out.

Ben Greenfield (3:36)

Yeah.

Keith Norris (3:39)

So finally, I did.

Oh, dude, it was the most amazing nine days I think I've ever had in my life. It was just incredible, off the chain.

You know, it's like being dropped on a moonscape. I mean, the second you, really the second you roll into to Reno, which is a couple hours outside of Black Rock City, the world begins to morph and change in front of your eyes. Just, you know, the vibe of the people there, the people at the airport, you know, coming in and beginning their trek out the out to Black Rock City. It's it again, I'm in the same position that people that I talked to were in is you can't explain it. It's just it's like being in a whole other world. It's just incredible. It is everything that is human optimization and human creativity, all in one spot with a very, very high vibe.

Ben Greenfield (4:38)

I hear a lot of people say that, but it seems like very big picture, esoteric, like, like, give me an example of something that was just hella cool there that you experienced.
