Anthony (0:01)

How's it going today, everyone? I am back with my wonderful, amazing wife for the eighth time.

I'm very excited. Before we get into, we have a guest today. Before we get into that, I just want to say something about this past weekend. We went to the LT Games, and I had someone, the lady that won the most advanced age group, that was Janet Gubser, I believe? Experience? Experience, Experience age group. She was amazing. She came out to me afterwards and goes, I just want to tell you, I love her and her husband. She goes, I love how you always start with how much you love your wife, and all this stuff. Telling me about it, she says it's the best part of the episode, so I will never stop that, and I'm glad that someone appreciates it, and I got to say it again. No, I didn't, I wanted to do it on you.

So, without going too much further, we have a guest today. We're talking with Wes Robertson, who is the, is it director of the Lifetime Games?

Wes Robertson (1:05)

Yeah, I guess self-titled race director.

Anthony (1:09)

There we go. So Wes works for Lifetime. If you don't know what a Lifetime is, it's one of the coolest gyms you can find. They're all over the country.

They have everything. We were just talking before this about all the specialty classes they offer. They have a great gym.

It's really cool. We've been to several of them and every single one of them is cool. They make you feel awesome.

Lauren (1:30)

They all have different recovery tools too, which is interesting.

Wes Robertson (1:33)

Yeah. Big shout out to Normatech and Hyperice for keeping all of our members recovered.

Anthony (1:40)

So that's what we're going to talk about today. We're going to talk about the Lifetime Games, we're going to talk with Wes and we're going to get into it. So where do you want to start?

Lauren (1:50)

Let's start with specifically this past weekend. Because we haven't gone over that yet. Let's probably go into more the origin and afterwards in terms of whose idea was it to start and where did the idea come from and how many people collaborated with how what the different pieces of the event would be. But I guess I want to start asking you, this was your first time doing it outside of a practice run.

What general question first, what did you think?

Anthony (2:24)

I haven't been like, first off, you guys put me in the highlighted heat. I'm not used to highlighted heat. I felt like I was on a stage. I felt like wrestling days back being in a duel meet where you're the only match going on. You can't just blend into the crowd like I would in a hyrox or something where nobody notices me, except for the person that's actually looking for me. When you're in the highlighted heat, everybody sees you.

It's the whole, you've told me before, it's the fishbowl effect where you're just being looked at. At least that's what it felt like. They probably weren't there. They were probably watching the lane next to me since they all knew that guy. But...

Lauren (3:00)

There's a slightly different setup than the one in Minneapolis. The one in Minneapolis, you guys have that second floor where people can watch from above, which is really interesting. You can really see all four lanes at once. And then this one had stands set up so they could be closer to the athletes versus the Minneapolis one, but not like that bird's-eye view.

Anthony (3:24)

Yeah.

So with the event, I felt like I was much more self-conscious in this one about making sure, like, I don't want my reps to look terrible because I feel like there's a camera on me. And there was. There was a camera on me sometimes. And so I was trying to make sure that like, I wanted to move quickly because I had a goal time in mind. But at the same time, I was like, this have got to be perfect reps. Like, I don't want no reps. I don't want to have to redo things. So like it kind of being in that position kind of made me feel like, hey, I need to take this at a controllable pace so that I'm not like out of control at any point.

Lauren (4:08)

So before you start, I was talking with Noah and Noah had said that he had talked to you about how like what your plan of attack is going to be and apparently you told him you were going to go out really hot. I'm like, this was after they had already like walked you out. And so I didn't have a chance to like go over and be like, don't do that.
