How's it going over here, guys? Very good, thank you, Anthony. We've got a special guest on once again. Welcome to the pod, Kate, Kate Davey. Welcome back, I think.
**Anthony** (0:55)
Hi. We're trying to do one a week of people leading up the world, but we just want to introduce Kate. Kate, it was last year at this time you were preparing to run the Elite 15 World Championships. And I mean, I guess you can tell your story. We'll get into more of your story, but it's been up and down since then. Because right before this, the last major of the year last year, you turned your ankle, you made your way back for the World Championships. You did great at the World Championships and you and Zara were fourth in doubles, right?
**Kate Davey** (1:31)
Yeah.
**Anthony** (1:32)
So you guys had great time in Chicago. And then about a week later, you did a thousand burpees in like 65 minutes or something.
**Kate Davey** (1:41)
I do believe I beat Jake.
**JK** (1:43)
You did.
**Anthony** (1:43)
Well, yeah, I think everybody did.
**JK** (1:45)
Finish me, Jake. I didn't even finish it. Yeah.
**Anthony** (1:49)
I was soft.
**JK** (1:50)
Yep.
**Kate Davey** (1:50)
George sat next to me with a clicker. I was like, oh, okay, we're getting professional.
**Anthony** (1:53)
Oh, that hooked. JK, did I ever tell you how Kate did it?
**JK** (1:58)
I don't think so.
**Anthony** (1:59)
She had written out a whole bunch of like six times 12 to 19 or 15 to 19 And you just did 15 burpees a minute for or like 19 burpees a minute for like six minutes and 18 burpees a minute for like six, like you just kept.
**Kate Davey** (2:14)
But then I came down. Yeah. And then I can get averaged and like 15 burpees a minute the whole way through. But I stacked the front half and then my knees took, I think a month to recover. I think I sent a photo to Anthony and he was like, what did you do? Why didn't you stop us? Like I was halfway through. I couldn't. George was going, mommy, your knees are bleeding. I'm like, we can't stop now.
But yeah, and then we crossed them off. So I started top heavy and then we'd worked it all out. And then I just was doing it per minute. And then you could sometimes take like 10 seconds or something, or just to get your breath back.
**Anthony** (2:49)
Yeah. So is that? Yeah.
**JK** (2:51)
That was after Worlds.
**Kate Davey** (2:53)
Yeah. The Burpee to Plate Challenge.
**JK** (2:57)
Yeah. That amount of just a few weeks after Worlds actually.
**Kate Davey** (3:02)
Yeah.
**JK** (3:04)
That's right.
**Anthony** (3:05)
Yeah.
**JK** (3:05)
I wonder if we'll do it again after Worlds this year. And then sorry, Anthony, you were saying about obviously Kate's journey since then as well.
**Anthony** (3:13)
Yeah. So we'll go back and talk more about Kate's history as well. But just since then, that's the last Elite 15 race we saw Kate in. And then it was, I mean, I think it was within a week after you did those thousand burpees actually.
You were doing a box jump after a good morning session and you turned your knee. And I remember you didn't know what happened. It must have been like within five minutes of it happened, I got a text message from you about like, hey, I just fell off the box. It hurts. You want to just take us from there, what your journey has been like, because let's talk a little bit too about recovery and getting back into it.
**Kate Davey** (3:50)
So I finished my box jump and I guess it's sometimes the most kind of things when you're not even thinking, right? And that's when you, something just goes wrong. And I was just turning to come off of the box. So I was stepping and turning. And as I turned to put both feet on the box, this foot just caught the top of the box as I was turning to step down, which put me off balance. One leg is still on the box, the other leg is coming down, but it's not landing flat and my body is still turning. And everything just, my knee just kept rotating. And there was just this, it sounded like someone, it was like someone stamping on a bag of crisps. It was horrible. I thought, oh my God. But then there's like, because pretty much everything had ruptured, there's no pain. The pain kind of goes.
