I feel like my relationship with money has changed a lot as I've gotten older. It mostly used to be about am I paying my bills and putting some money away? Now there are so many moving pieces and competing priorities, so I want to feel like I know exactly where I stand, not just hope that everything's okay. So that's what I like about Monarch. Having our accounts, investments, savings goals, and spending all in one place, it gives me a much clearer picture. There have definitely been months where I've looked at our spending breakdown and thought, wait, we spent that much on that? Seeing it all laid out makes those patterns really obvious. I also love Monarch's AI assistant. I can just ask questions about my finances instead of digging through transactions myself. It definitely takes some of the mental load out of managing money and helps me feel like we actually know where we stand. So write your own money story with Monarch. Mosheh Oinounou (1:08)
Hey everybody, it is Monday, October 19th. You're listening to the Mo News podcast. I'm Moshe Oinounou.
Jill Wagner (1:12)
And I'm Jill Wagner. This is the place where we bring you just the facts.
Mosheh Oinounou (1:16)
And where we read all the news and read between the lines so you don't have to. On this national, the internet tells me it's new friends day, Jill. When's the last time you made a new friend?
Jill Wagner (1:27)
You know, I moved into a new community about a year ago. So I feel like I am constantly making new friends.
Mosheh Oinounou (1:33)
I feel like women are better at this than men. My wife is constantly making new friends. And I still have my, like, you know, college friends group, my early 20s friends group. I haven't made a new friend in a while. And we'll go to, like, school functions and parents' things. And she's like, you like any of the dads there? And I'm like, yeah.
She's like, do you think you'll get dinner with any of them? And I was like, eh. I'm working on it.
Jill Wagner (1:57)
Oh, I get from my husband all the time. Like, that's a friend that you could have lunch with. Like a girl's lunch.
I'm not really interested in a double date.
Mosheh Oinounou (2:07)
I'm trying. I'm trying here. I'm trying. Jill, one other thing we should get to before we start on the podcast, since we don't always talk about sports on the pod, but it was a big weekend for sports, including college football, where five of the top seven teams in the top 25 AP College football poll all lost on Saturday. So we haven't seen this happen, and this poll goes back to 1936
So you saw number one, number two, number five, number six and number seven all go down on Saturday.
Jill Wagner (2:37)
Yes, we had a happy house, given that Ohio State almost went down, but in the very last second did not.
Mosheh Oinounou (2:44)
Right. So Ohio State survived, but on Saturday Georgia, Notre Dame, Indiana, Alabama and Texas all went down. It's going to lead to a very interesting college football playoff in terms of the ranking and how that all goes down later this year. So that's college football.
Jill Wagner (3:01)
We're also waiting on the World Series matchup. Milwaukee Brewers fans are over the moon. They've made it in.
Mosheh Oinounou (3:08)
So they're in the World Series as they hope to win their first ever title.
And we're waiting for the big winner out of Cleveland and Tampa in the American League. Notably Tampa also would be looking for their first World Series title. Cleveland, it would be their first since 1948 So history will be made in baseball here in the coming weeks.
Jill Wagner (3:29)
All right, let's get to the headlines here. Starting overseas in France, which experienced one of the most violent days of unrest in years, riots and looting left historic buildings burned, hundreds of shops destroyed and looted and at least 2,400 people arrested in cities across the country.
Mosheh Oinounou (3:46)
And we saw major rioting in Milan, Italy as well. We'll talk about what's behind these protests in France and across Europe, the deeper issues here. Albania also seeing violent protests. Big questions happening in Spain right now. Some protests in Lisbon as well. What's happening in Europe? We'll break it all down.
Jill Wagner (4:03)
Here at home, President Trump's move to wave new sanctions on Russia just days before they were set to kick in is setting off criticism from both parties. What is at stake? As it appears, the gloves have come off between Trump and Zelensky again. And the White House is without a press secretary again just weeks ahead of the midterms in November.
