I feel like my relationship with money has changed a lot as I've gotten older. It mostly used to be about am I paying my bills and putting some money away? Now there are so many moving pieces and competing priorities, so I want to feel like I know exactly where I stand, not just hope that everything's okay. So that's what I like about Monarch. Having our accounts, investments, savings goals, and spending all in one place, it gives me a much clearer picture. There have definitely been months where I've looked at our spending breakdown and thought, wait, we spent that much on that? Seeing it all laid out makes those patterns really obvious. I also love Monarch's AI assistant. I can just ask questions about my finances instead of digging through transactions myself. It definitely takes some of the mental load out of managing money and helps me feel like we actually know where we stand. So write your own money story with Monarch. Use the code MONEWS at monarch.com to get your first year of Monarch Corps half off at just $50.

That is 50% off your first year at monarch.com. Code Monews.

Mosheh Oinounou (1:08)

Hey, everybody. It is Tuesday, October 13th. You're listening to the Monews podcast. I'm Moshe Oinounou.

Jill Wagner (1:13)

And I'm Jill Wagner. This is the place where we bring you just the facts.

Mosheh Oinounou (1:17)

And we read all the news and read between the lines so you don't have to. Sometimes we watch Savannah Bananas games.

Jill, have you gotten to see them yet?

Jill Wagner (1:25)

Just some clips on TV, but I heard they're so much fun. And I feel like I need to try to go at some point.

Mosheh Oinounou (1:32)

They tour the country. I had the chance to see them at Yankee Stadium last year, which was a lot of fun. And this whole thing started as just like one team, and now it's evolved into a six team league. And they held their first banana bowl over the weekend.

Jill Wagner (1:45)

And what is that exactly?

Mosheh Oinounou (1:48)

Well, apparently, it involved the game, them versus the Texas Tailgaters. The Texas Tailgaters defeated the Bananas. So, you know, some people like to compare it to like the Harlem Globetrotters because they do all these tricks. They sing in between innings. They have trick plays, very unusual rules, dancing players and the like, but they actually allow themselves to lose. So they're like, listen, this is still legit. We're still playing a legit sport here, despite all the various fun in games. But they had like John Cena deliver the game ball in like a military Humvee. The Jonas Brothers performed on the field. Cain Braun was there, Pentatonix was there.

So basically, you get a concert, you get games, and apparently a big win for the Texas Tailgaters.

Jill, we've heard that Major League Baseball is looking to the Savannah Bananas phenomenon and looking to update their own rules, try to make baseball relevant to a new generation. Because when you look at the major sports here in the US, baseball has among the oldest fan base.

Jill Wagner (2:52)

Right. They're even trying to shorten games for shortened attention spans.

Mosheh Oinounou (2:57)

They have with a clock. Now, the question is whether they're going to have the Jonas Brothers perform on the field next year at a Major League Baseball game, if they're taking their cues from the Bananas.

Jill Wagner (3:07)

The Banana Bowl, not just what I'm having for breakfast every morning.

Mosheh Oinounou (3:11)

There you go.

Jill Wagner (3:12)

All right, so the headlines is starting with politics. Federal agents searched the DC home of Congresswoman Ilhan Omar three weeks before Election Day.

Mosheh Oinounou (3:22)

Yeah, what government authorities say immigration investigators were looking for. How rare this is this soon before an election.

And it comes as she has received scrutiny from the Trump administration for a number of years.

Jill Wagner (3:34)

Elon Musk last year said he would spend less money on getting politicians elected after spending $290 million during the 2024 election season. Well, the numbers are in. He's actually the biggest donor of the midterms, at least the biggest known donor.

Mosheh Oinounou (3:50)

Yeah, he can't stay away, Jill. He's closing in on $400 million spent so far in midterms. We'll tell you where the money is going.

Jill Wagner (3:57)

Also the online rumor about the health of Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico. How it unraveled.

Mosheh Oinounou (4:05)

Yeah, there's a lot of theories out there. We'll bring you what the facts are this far.

Jill Wagner (4:10)

A follow up on those deadly attacks at a Saudi Arabia airport over the weekend. Saudi Arabia says it thwarted another potential attack on Monday. And a look at the economic fallout. Meanwhile, President Trump is standing by his Russian fuel deal, despite growing backlash from both Republicans and Democrats.
