A massive earthquake rocks Columbia. Trump's DC cleanup reaches its one-year anniversary. And Mark Zuckerberg's yacht gets booed. I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire executive editor John Bickley. It's Monday, August 10th, and this is Evening Wire.

A 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck western Columbia this morning. The epicenter was about 35 miles outside of Pereira. That's a city of half a million people. Dozens have already been confirmed killed. The tremors shook and emptied buildings over much of the country. Officials expect the death toll to climb much higher in the coming days and weeks as emergency crews dig through rubble. The quake comes just after two similar earthquakes hit Venezuela and killed more than 6,000 people.

President Trump's initiative to clean up the streets of DC hits its one-year anniversary tomorrow. Daily Wire contributor Tim Pierce has the latest.

The Justice Department says the results over the past year have been extraordinary, with more than 16,000 arrests made and thousands of illegal drugs and firearms confiscated. Of those arrested, 35 are homicide suspects and more than 100 are known gang members. The administration also touted 35 missing children who have been found and returned home. The president says Washington has now become one of the safest cities in the world.

The Make DC Safe and Beautiful Task Force launched last year after a series of high-profile violent crimes that included the assault of a doge staffer and the murder of a congressional intern. The security has come at a cost that the Pentagon estimates will top $1.4 billion by the end of Trump's second term.
A boat captain faces 13 counts of reckless endangerment after his vessel capsized in New York Harbor and killed a 27-year-old woman and a 5-month-old girl. Fourteen people were on board the boat when it flipped just off Liberty Harbor where the Statue of Liberty stands. Police divers pulled the victims from the water and took them to the NYU Langone Hospital, Brooklyn, where they were pronounced dead. Investigators are looking into what caused the boat to capsize and if it was operating as an illegal charter.

A New Jersey family was shocked to discover a swollen eight-foot Burmese python living under their shed. Daily Wire lifestyle reporter Lauren Baer has the story.

A New Jersey woman made a shocking discovery while watering her flowers this past weekend. The exotic reptile was seen slithering through Leslie Daly's backyard headed towards her shed. On careful inspection, they found a hole big enough to allow the eight-footer underneath. Leslie, along with her husband, said, called officials who were quick to send a private contractor who removed the shed's floorboards. Beneath them was the python, who was quite content and portly due to his last meal, which x-rays would later reveal to be a possum that was eaten whole. But how did the Southwest Asian snake get to New Jersey?
The answer? Exotic snakes can be owned legally in the state with a permit. And what likely happened is someone who'd imported python eggs either accidentally released this one or let it go once it became too much to care for. The snake was removed without harm by a professional handler and is now living safely within a secure enclosure.

AOC made headlines this week when she announced she had begun the process of freezing her eggs. The 36-year-old and her longtime fiancé have been together for more than 10 years and have remained unmarried despite a reported engagement nearly five years ago. Now the congresswoman sparked conversation online when she publicly announced that she would be freezing her eggs. Aside from the IVF debates it sparked, onlookers suggested that the announcement could be another sign that AOC is considering a presidential run in 2028 We'll have more on this tomorrow morning.

New Orleans has become the first major city in the United States to put artificial intelligence on the front line to field emergency calls. Daily Wire reporter Leona Salinas has the details.
