More details emerge about the Bend shooting. Katie Zacharia is out as White House press secretary, and Elon Musk unveils Tesla's new flying car. I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire executive editor John Bickley. It's Friday, October 16th, and this is Evening Wire.

An update on yesterday's shooting in Oregon as the hero dad who stopped the shooter has been identified. As the first shots rang out, 36-year-old Caleb Giamanco, who was on break from his job as a carpenter, heard the commotion and immediately entered the school.

Giamanco, whose two daughters attend the school, located the shooter and ended the threat with his concealed firearm. By the time the police arrived just three minutes after the 911 call, the shooter was already dead, leaving law enforcement free to render aid to the victims. Tragically, three children and one teacher were killed. Unconfirmed reports claim that the 16-year-old shooter used a shotgun originally purchased by his mother.

Law enforcement have recognized that Giamanco's quick action likely saved many lives.

The Pentagon is considering using the mother of all bombs against Iran if President Trump orders renewed attacks. The weapon, known as the Massive Ordnance Air Blast Bomb, or MOAB, is the largest non-nuclear bomb in the US arsenal. Trump has ordered the military to work out new strike packages that include, quote, a lot of energy infrastructure and that could include the use of the MOAB. Plans for striking Iranian nuclear sites, including Pickaxe Mountain, also explicitly call for the weapon. Meanwhile, Trump has also gone on record to say he would not use nuclear weapons against Iran. And he said he'll wait to order more strikes until after the midterms. Here's Trump.

This comes as the Houthis and Iran continue to harass ships in the Hormuz Strait. The UK said today that a total of 12 ships have reported being attacked around the Strait this week.

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made a seven figure donation to Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed. Daily Wire contributor Tim Pearce has more.

Ocasio-Cortez transferred $1 million to a political account for El-Sayed on Friday. This week, the New York Congresswoman is on tour with El-Sayed in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, before she heads down to the Detroit area for a few solo events. Ocasio-Cortez has said that El-Sayed's candidacy is big for her brand of socialist Democrat Party politics, and Friday's donation shows she means it. Here she was at a campaign stop in Michigan.

While she is campaigning for El-Sayed's political future, Ocasio-Cortez also needs to make up her mind about her own. According to the New York Times, she has not yet decided whether in 2028, she wants to run for re-election, for Chuck Schumer's seat in the Senate, or for the White House.

Katie Zacharia's time as the new White House press secretary turned out to be short-lived. The White House confirmed to Daily Wire's Mary Margaret Olihan today that Zacharia is transitioning out of the role. President Trump denies that he fired her. Rather, he said that she's departing after she was, quote, brutalized by the media. This follows a tough first press briefing and confusion about her title as a lawyer. It also comes after she made a few appearances on Fox News to discuss the controversy. Here are some of her comments to Sean Hannity Thursday.
