Eileen and Amos Review Bruno Mars' "The Romantic" Tour

All right, Amos, we both went to the Bruno Mars show. Different days. Different days. And when I saw you on Saturday before your show, I believe your wife mentioned that someone that you knew said that the show was better than Taylor Swift's concert, which is a tall order, tall order.

Amos (0:21)

That is the fact, yeah. Her friend Rachel said that Bruno put on a better show than Taylor.

Eileen (0:26)

So that was why we decided to talk about Bruno's show and how, and it was my first time seeing him, your first time seeing him too, right? Yep. Okay, so we'd never even seen him before, but we've both seen Taylor once during the Eras tour.

Amos (0:40)

Yeah. Now I did see Taylor at the end of the Eras tour, where you saw her like more mid-Eras tour, right?

Eileen (0:46)

I think so. It was August of 2023 So yeah, she had started earlier in that year. So you saw her-

Amos (0:54)

You saw her pre-album release and I saw her post-album release.

Eileen (0:58)

Yeah, that Brown album with the Post Malone song. I'm sorry, I don't listen to that album. Yeah. When it came out, I was like, oh, it's too mellow for me. I'm not going to listen to it. Tortured Poets Department. Yes, that one.

I did remember the Post Malone collaboration though. Anyway, yes, it happened after I saw her. So yes.

Amos (1:21)

Yeah, and before I saw her. Yeah, we saw her on the, I think it was her fourth to last show of the tour.

Cause she had one more night in Tarnow, I think, and then three nights in Vancouver. And that was the end of the tour.

Eileen (1:33)

Okay. Okay.

I saw her on a lovely Tuesday evening in August, and there was nothing super special. Like it wasn't like the Saturday night or the weekends were like recorded for Disney Plus, I think, or for the movie or for the actual movie, you know, that came out and then our shows were just, they were great. They were just, you know, regular shows.

Amos (1:55)

Is that SoFi?

Eileen (1:56)

I did see her at SoFi, which is the same place that I saw Bruno and where you saw Bruno. So that actually is good comparison in terms of our experience about Bruno, not necessarily comparing Taylor, which that's the most important part of this conversation is like, what did you think of Bruno's?

That is really the crux of the, this is really about Bruno. And then we'll take a step further and say, did we like it better than Taylor's show? As per your wife's friend who says he was better.

Amos (2:28)

Yeah. It's like, Yeah, well, we'll get to that. Bruno, first of all, he came out with DJ Peewee, AKA Anderson Paak.

Eileen (2:36)

Yeah. Yeah, Anderson Paak was a DJ. He was fun. There wasn't many people sitting in their seats at that point, but by the time he ended, there was a good amount of people. And I was like, he's a good hype guy. You know what I mean? He's funny. He played good music. I don't know what you got. I got like Dancing Queen. I want to dance with somebody. You got the same ones. Okay. And then I'm trying to remember the 90s. Oh, TLC, Scrubs.

Yeah. Okay. So we got the same songs. All right. But it was good because they were like big hits. People were getting into it.

He said the 70s crowd needed to go to sleep. So we, you know, hurry up, hurry up.

Amos (3:18)

It was, it was a, it was fun.

Eileen (3:20)

Cause there wasn't many of us. Yeah.

Amos (3:22)

It was very high energy, high energy start to the show. Like, you know.

Eileen (3:29)

Did you get Busta Rhymes come out?

Amos (3:31)

Nope. We did not get any special guests.

Eileen (3:33)

We got Busta Rhymes during Anderson Paak's DJ part. Yeah. So that was interesting.

Amos (3:39)

Busta has to go to go to bed. Like it's, I know.

Eileen (3:42)

Well, you know what's funny? Like I, I was kind of filming it and it just happened. I was like, oh. And then this, I was filming the screen and I was like, wow, Busta's changed. What, why do I? And it turned out that was not Busta that the camera was on. It was someone else. And then, and then I saw Busta Rhymes like, oh, that's, yes, that, yes. I know Busta Rhymes. Yes. That's what I was like, who is this other guy? His friend. I was like, I was so confused. Like what happened to Busta? Did he age? He gained a lot of weight. Like didn't I just see him recently?
