If there's nothing more American than air conditioning, as the Europeans have been telling us the past few weeks. The temps right now, the feel like temps over the past couple of days, everywhere from Chicago down to the Gulf Coast and then across the Eastern Seaboard, reaching between 100 to 110 degrees.
And it's about to get worse, especially for those of us on the East Coast.

Yeah, dozens of cities across the Mid-Atlantic and the Northeast can see one of their top five hottest days ever today and tomorrow. Philadelphia, DC., New York and other cities set to break records today.
And this is not just a one day thing. Those cities will see multiple days exceeding 100 degrees.

Yeah, and a reminder to all of you, the number one killer related to weather is heat. Heat related illnesses kill more Americans annually than any other type of extreme weather, hurricanes, tornadoes, the cold. It's the heat that will get you. So to the extent that you can avoid being outdoors, even with the festivities, there's a lot of cities that are saying, if you're of a certain age, you're asthmatic, you have small children, a whole variety of reasons. You should probably just watch the fireworks indoors this year, especially over the next couple of days. You'll get some relief on the fourth itself in a few cities. So definitely stay tuned to your weather forecast, but Jill, 65 million people in 20 states will have temperatures of 100 degrees or more over the next couple of days.

Okay, let's get to some headlines here. If New York City isn't chaotic enough this weekend, 22 people were arrested after climbing to the tippy top of the Empire State Building.
