It's Tuesday, September 22nd, 2026 I'm Brian Ibbott, here are Music Headlines for today.

Tributes are still pouring in for New Found Glory's Chad Gilbert, who died Sunday at 45 Bandmate Jordan Pundick said he'll miss him most onstage and in the small moments backstage. Sleeping with sirens, Kellan Quinn, some 41s, Dave Baksh, and My Chemical Romance's Mikey Way, all shared memories, along with Mark Hoppus, Joel Madden, and members of Simple Plan and A Day to Remember. Across the scene, musicians kept coming back to the same words, his kindness, his generosity, and how much he meant to the people around him.

Slipknot fans are buzzing over a mysterious new website, unlock.slipknot1.com, that asks visitors to sign up with their email name and location. After registering, you're shown the band's burning logo, the date September 28th, and a running tally of signups, along with some hidden audio and visual Easter eggs. Promotional posters have popped up in cities like Los Angeles, Bogota, and Buenos Aires, fueling speculation about either a tour or new music. Guitarist Jim Root has already said the band's most recent song, Arsenal, won't be part of a new album, which only adds to the mystery.

Taylor Swift is about to become the most awarded artist in MTV VMA history. She will receive the inaugural Artist Director Honors at this year's show, pushing her past her tie with Beyoncé to 31 total awards. The ceremony airs live on CBS this Sunday, September 27th, hosted by Snoop Dogg, with Madonna performing at the VMAs for the first time in 23 years, and Nirvana receiving the Video Vanguard Award. Fan voting for the night's competitive categories closes September 25th. Friday brought a wake of new K-pop, with Rosé releasing her solo single, New Trick and IU returning with Unknown Planet. Groups got in on it too, including Infinite, Fifty Fifty and a collaborative track from Heartsteel, featuring Anderson Paak and Baekhyun. It's one of the busiest release days of the month for the genre, with dozens of songs landing at once. If you're catching up on new music this week, there's plenty to dig through.

British R&B group No Guidance announced they're calling it quits after five years together. In a statement, members ZK, Josh, KC and Eshan said it's been a difficult decision, citing a lack of the financial means to release music they've been working on for the past year and a half. They thanked fans for their support and said they'll remain, in their words, brothers for life. The group encouraged fans to follow their individual projects going forward.

A bill promoting music tourism across the country is now headed to the president's desk. The American Music Tourism Act directs the Commerce Department to identify and promote travel to US music venues, festivals and landmarks and passed the House by voice vote last week after clearing the Senate. It's a bipartisan effort led by lawmakers from Tennessee and the National Independent Venue Association is calling it a jobs bill. Independent venues alone already account for more than $10 billion a year in tourism spending.

And finally, Osfest is confirmed to return to the US in 2027 after an eight-year hiatus with a UK pop-up also planned. The festival, founded by Ozzy and Sharon Osborne, hasn't announced a lineup yet. It's welcome news for metal fans after years without a proper Osfest run. More details on dates and locations are expected in the coming months. And it's Tuesday. It's time for our top five, the Billboard 200 albums chart. Number five, The Great Divide by Noah Khan. Number four, Prima by Adela. Number three, I'm the Problem by Morgan Wallen. Number two, You Seem Pretty Sad for A Girl So In Love by Olivia Rodrigo. And number one, Dandelion by LO. Langley.
