New Order keyboardist Gillian Gilbert has revealed that she is undergoing cancer treatment, clearing up confusion caused by comments from her husband and bandmate, Stephen Morris. Morris had been quoted as having a serious health issue, but Gilbert clarified that he is well and she is the one receiving treatment. Gilbert, 65, previously battled breast cancer in 2007 and returned to New Order after a decade-long break. New Order is scheduled to tour South America in November and will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that month.

A Los Angeles county judge overseeing Julia Misley's sexual assault lawsuit against Steven Tyler recused herself Tuesday, just two weeks before trial after disclosing a conflict of interest that led to consultations with another judge previously removed from the case. The September 28 trial date has been scrapped, with no new date set and no word on whether a new judge will revisit earlier evidentiary rulings. Misley alleges Tyler abused her starting in 1973 when she was 16 and he was 25 Tyler has denied wrongdoing. The Kennedy Center board voted to immediately close the facility for renovations, citing safety concerns, shortly after a federal judge ruled that the board can not add Donald Trump's name to the building without congressional approval. The judge had previously ordered Trump's name removed. The board says the closure is necessary for long overdue repairs and plans to appeal the ruling while opponents argue the shutdown violates an existing court injunction.

Songwriter Cyril Vetter is urging the Supreme Court to uphold a Fifth Circuit ruling, letting him reclaim world-wide, not just US., rights to his 1963 song Double Shot of My Baby's Love, under copyright termination law. Major labels and BMG, who bought the song's rights just to gain standing to appeal, warned the ruling will cause industry chaos, but Vetter says that's overblown and the decision simply gives songwriters a fairer share of rights Congress meant them to reclaim.
