Rick Springfield said on the Joe Rogan Experience that he was told a mortar he fired while touring Vietnam as a teenage musician in 1968, killed a Viet Cong fighter. Springfield said he and his band were staying at a Navy encampment near Da Nang when it came under attack and he fired several mortar rounds without fully grasping the consequences. He said the account has weighed on him for decades, though the reported death has not been independently verified.

Alison Krauss and Union Station have cancelled the rest of their 2026 tour, covering dates from September 11th through October 3rd, after doctors advised Krauss to rest her voice. The group said the break is needed to protect her health and allow a full recovery.
