It's Monday, October 19th, 2026 I'm Brian Ibbott. Here are your music headlines for today. Iron Maiden announced a surprise 2027 North American tour, adding a final run of Run for Your Lives dates to their 50th anniversary celebration. The band had seemed to be winding things down, so this caught a lot of fans off guard. Dates span across the US and Canada. Tickets are expected to go fast, given the band's history of sellouts.
Taylor Swift has expanded her voice trademark filings to the UK., the EU and Australia as part of a broader push to protect herself against AI deepfakes. The filings cover the specific phrase, Hey, it's Taylor Swift, among other vocal markers. It's part of a growing trend of artists trying to get ahead of unauthorized AI replicas of their voice. Legal experts say it could set an interesting precedent for how voice protection works internationally. Blondie announced their 12th studio album, High Noon, their first collection of new material in nine years. It will also be the final recordings from longtime drummer Clem Burke, who died earlier this year. The band described the album as, grounded in the present, shaped by who we are and how we're living now. The first single, Spectral Eyes, is out now with the full album due in early 2027
The Backstreet Boys have set a new Rogers Centre attendance record, expanding their Toronto residency to 12 stadium shows. That's twice as many shows as Taylor Swift played at the same venue. The run has become something of a victory lap for millennials who grew up on the group. Toronto's Tourism Board says the residency has been a notable boost for the city.
Zebra is releasing their first new album in 23 years, Zebra V, out November 13th. The first single, Walk With You, was co-written with Kiss Frontman Paul Stanley from an old, unfinished song. It's a surprising return for the band, who have mostly stayed quiet since the 80s. Longtime fans are calling it one of the most unexpected comebacks of the year.
Michael Stipe joined members of The National for a surprise performance of R.E.M.'s E-Bow the Letter over the weekend, part of a two-day festival in the Basque region celebrating Aaron and Bryce Dessner's 50th birthdays. He also sang his Big Red Machine collaboration, No Time for Love Like Now, with Matt Berninger and the Dessner brothers. It was a rare live appearance from Stipe, who doesn't perform often these days. Fans who caught it called it one of the highlights of the festival.
And finally, PETA has put in a bid for the Liverpool house where Paul McCartney learned to play guitar as a kid, with plans to turn it into an animal rights museum if they win it. The organization has long pointed to McCartney's decades of vegetarian advocacy as inspiration for the idea. It's not clear yet whether the bid will actually succeed, but either way, it's a pretty creative pitch for a piece of Beatles history. And it's Monday, it's time for our top five, the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart, which is very Taylor today. Number five, Pink Clouding by Taylor Swift. Number four, Babylon also by Taylor Swift. Number three, Cleveland by Taylor Swift. And number two, Choosin Texas by Ella Langley.
Knocked out of the first spot by Patient Zero by Taylor Swift.
