It's Monday, June 8th, 2026 I'm Brian Ibbott and here are your music headlines for today. Schmigadoon!, The Lost Boys, A New Musical and Ragtime each won four awards at the 2026 Tony Awards. Schmigadoon! won Best Musical with Cinco Paul winning three awards for his work on the show. Ragtime! won Best Musical, Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical, Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical and Best Sound Design of a Musical. The Lost Boys! won Best Scenic Design of a Musical, Best Costume Design of a Musical, and Best Lighting Design of a Musical. Schmigadoon! won Best Original Score, Music and or Lyrics written for the Theatre and Best Book of a Musical. Taylor Swift's new song, I Knew It, I Knew You, written for the Toy Story 5 soundtrack, topped Billboard's new music poll with 35% of the vote. The song, a collaboration with Jack Antonoff, harkens back to Swift's earlier pop country sound. It was released alongside an animated video featuring Toy Story characters and will be featured in the movie opening in theatres on June 19th. Drake's Iceman spends a third week and number one in the Billboard 200 Albums chart, earning 171,000 equivalent album units. Paul McCartney's The Boys of Dungeon Lane debuts at number five, marking his 22nd top ten album. Espos Lemonade debuts at number nine, securing their third top ten album. The California judge allowed a civil sexual assault lawsuit against Marilyn Manson to proceed. The lawsuit brought by his former assistant alleges that Manson assaulted her and the judge ruled that the allegations meet the requirements of a newer California law that reopened the window for certain older adult sexual assault allegations. The case will now move into the litigation phase. Mudvayne guitarist Greg Tribbett is launching a new band called Dead White with his brother Derrick. The band is still in its early stages, but Greg has been teasing their music on Instagram. No other members have been confirmed yet.
AMC is relaunching Interview With the Vampire as The Vampire Lestat for Season 3, shifting the focus to Lestat's transformation into a rock star. The relaunch includes a new title, a rock concert premiere event, and a music-heavy marketing campaign featuring 20 original songs. AMC is leveraging partnerships with brands like Fender and utilizing platforms like Spotify and Amazon Music to promote the series.
Olivia Rodrigo revealed a duet with The Cure's Robert Smith on her upcoming album during a surprise performance at Primavera Sound. The song, What's Wrong With Me, features Smith as a full vocal partner and will be released on Rodrigo's third album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. The duet follows their previous on-stage collaboration at Glastonbury Festival.

The album, produced by Bob Ezrin, is the heaviest Deep Purple album in years and features the band playing together in the studio.
