FIFA has unveiled the track list for the 2026 World Cups official album, building a global soundtrack that reflects the tournament's hosts, the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The project features a diverse lineup of artists across multiple genres, with songs including Lighter by Jelly Roll and Carín León, Por Ella by Belinda and Los Ángeles Azules, Echo by Daddy Yankee and Shenseea, and Illuminate by Jessie Reyez and Elyanna. Die Die by Shakira and Bernabéu was previously released as the official 2026 FIFA World Cup song. Singer-songwriter Lauv has announced that he is stepping away from Khalid's It's Always Summer Somewhere Tour to focus on his mental health, telling fans he is deeply struggling right now and needs time to heal. Lauv said his mental health challenges have long influenced his music and expressed hope that being open about his situation might encourage others to seek support when they need it. Rock Supergroup, Drink The Sea, featuring musicians associated with REM., Queens of the Stone Age, Screaming Trees, and Mark Lanegan Band has announced its third album, Drink The Sea III, set for release on October 2nd, alongside a UK, European and US tour. The band's lineup includes Peter Buck, Barrett Martin, Alan Johannes, Duke Garwood, and Lisette Garcia, with the new album recorded across the US., Chile, and Brazil. Singer-songwriter, Sara Bareilles has announced Good Grief, her first studio album in seven years, set for release on August 28th, along with the North American Theatre Tour this fall. The album explores themes of loss, healing, and personal growth, and is being introduced with new music, including the single Home, while a companion documentary chronicling the making of the project is set to premiere at the Tribeca Festival.
Rock legend, Alice Cooper is warning that artificial intelligence could soon create convincing rock stars that don't actually exist, complete with AI-generated songs, albums, and personas. He raised concerns about who would own and profit from the AI-created music, while arguing that machines can imitate styles and write lyrics, but cannot replicate the real-life experiences that fuel great songwriting. Cooper believes AI-generated music ultimately lacks the emotion, heart, and soul that come from human experiences like love, heartbreak, joy, and anger.
On the flip side, AI music platform Suno has raised more than $400 million in new funding, giving the company a valuation of $5.4 billion and underscoring growing investor confidence in AI-powered music creation tools. The funding round comes as Suno continues to face legal challenges from major record labels over copyright and training data issues, even as it expands partnerships within the music industry.
