You're going to notice some changes to the Grammy Awards in 2027 The Recording Academy has announced several new categories, bringing the total up to 100 from 78 The new categories include Best Asian Pop Music Performance, as well as new recognitions for Latin and R&B genres. In addition, the Recording Academy will change the rules on some existing categories. For example, the eligibility criteria for the Best New Artist category has been relaxed to allow for more artists to be nominated. Storm Reid, known for her acting in projects like Euphoria and A Wrinkle in Time, has released her debut single, Clean Sweep, exploring pop and R&B. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Reid acknowledges the impact of Euphoria on her career and is now focused on establishing herself as a serious musician. Director Garth Jennings has announced a new documentary, Pulp! What Do You Do for an Encore. The movie will premiere exclusively on Mubi in the fall and will feature 20 of the band's songs. The movie will be a tribute to the band, highlighting their impact on British pop culture. Lionel Richie has applied for trademarks on the sound of his voice, including his iconic song lyric, Hello, is it me you're looking for? This follows a growing trend of musicians and celebrities seeking trademark protection for their voices to combat voice cloning and unauthorized AI training. Boy George has released a new AI-generated version of Culture Club's Karma Chameleon. George says that the new version was created using technology from a company called Artist Included, which aims to help artists reclaim their hits. Needless to say, the release of the new version has been met with mixed reactions from fans. Jack White has quietly announced a new album, Frozen Charlotte, via pre-order on his website. The album, which features 13 tracks and is expected to drop on July 11th, is described as a continuation of the sound and style of his previous album, No Name.
And finally, country music star Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, filed for divorce from his wife Alisa DeFord, known as Bunnie Xo, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple, who married in 2016 and have two children, renewed their vows in 2023 Jelly Roll, who rose to fame with his 2023 breakout album, has been open about his struggles with addiction and incarceration.
For Wednesday, let's take a look at Billboard's Top Venues Chart. This chart looks at total gross for the year for each of these venues. Number five, Accor Arena in Paris, with 1.7 million attendees for 77 shows and $77.2 million. Number four, Movistar Arena in Madrid, with 1.2 million attendees for 99 shows and $90.5 million. Number three, Madison Square Garden, with 935,000 attendees for 65 shows and $126.3 million. Number two, O2 Arena in London, with 1.6 million attendees, 138 shows and $163 million. And number one, Sphere in Las Vegas, 819,000 attendees for 50 shows and $185.2 million.
