Taylor Swift surprised fans at the Toy Story 5 premiere in Los Angeles by performing her new original song, I Knew It, I Knew You, which she wrote and produced with Jack Antonoff for the film and based in part on Jesse's storyline. After the performance, she brought legendary composer Randy Newman on stage, and the pair delivered a special duet of the franchise's classic anthem, You've Got a Friend in Me. Swift said contributing to the beloved Pixar series meant the world to her and praised the artists and animators behind the film. Alanis Morissette has announced Butterfly With a Machete, a limited four-night Los Angeles area residency at the YouTube theater on November 5th, 6th, 10th, and 11th, expanding on the concept of her sold out Las Vegas run from 2025 The production is described as confessional, multimedia rock tromedy that blends Morissette's music with storytelling, therapeutic themes, and an exploration of fame, healing, and trauma, with Morissette serving as producer, performer, and co-writer. Artists pre-sale begins June 16th, with the general on sale set for June 17th.
Radiohead's acclaimed stage production, Hamlet Hail to the Thief, is headed to London's Barbican Theatre for a limited run from October 31st through January 23rd, 2027 With actor Samuel Blenkin reprising his role as Hamlet. The show co-created by Tom York and directors Stephen Hoggett and Christine Jones, fuses Shakespeare's Hamlet with a re-imagined live performance of Radiohead's 2003 album, Hail to the Thief, using the music to amplify the play's themes of grief, paranoia, and political unrest.
Google has moved to dismiss a federal lawsuit over YouTube uploads and AI training, arguing that YouTube's terms of service granted the company broad rights to use uploaded content, including in ways related to music generation models such as Lyria. The dispute stems from a lawsuit filed by independent musicians who claim Google improperly used their songs to train AI systems. Google contends that creators granted the necessary permissions when they uploaded content to YouTube.
Warner Music Group has agreed to acquire AI attribution and rights tracking company, Sureel AI, a move aimed to helping artists, songwriters, and rights holders identify when their work, voice, likeness, or intellectual property is used in AI-generated content or AI training. Sureel's technology creates an AI DNA fingerprint for creative works, allowing Warner to trace how content is referenced and potentially monetized or protect those uses as generative AI becomes more widespread. Megan Thee Stallion has teamed up with legendary tenor Andrea Bocelli, producer David Guetta, and singer-songwriter EJAE on DNA, the official anthem for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The song blends Bocelli's operatic vocals, Megan's rap verses, Guetta's production, and Korean lyrics from EJAE, with Bocelli and EJAE set to perform the anthem for the first time during the World Cup opening ceremony in Mexico City.
