BTS announced they will not submit their music for consideration at the 69th Grammy Awards in 2027 The group expressed a desire for their music to be appreciated globally, transcending regional and language barriers. Despite their decision, BTS remains a global phenomenon, having recently completed their world tour Arirang and performed at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final Halftime Show.
Ed Sheeran collaborated with Katseye on their new single Animal after being inspired by their breakout single, Gnarly. Sheeran shared a behind-the-scenes video of the song's creation, showcasing the catchy chorus and melodies he developed. The collaboration is part of Katseye's new era, leading up to the release of their EP, Wild, on August 14th. Eminem is auctioning off 117 pairs of autographed sneakers from his personal collection, including rare Air Jordans, to benefit the Marshall Mathers Foundation. The auction, held by Julian's Auctions, will benefit disadvantaged youth in Detroit and surrounding communities. Bidding is open until August 25th.
Jean-Michel Jarre will release his debut book, Machines, A History of Electronic Music, on November 24th. The book will explore the evolution of electronic music through Jarre's collection of instruments featuring contributions from artists like Armin Van Buuren and Richie Hawtin. It will include 130 images and delve into the cultural and technological movements that shaped electronic music. Willow Avalon, a country music artist, released her new album, Pink Pocket Pistol, in June. The album, inspired by strong southern women and her family, features a mix of modern songwriting and vintage country sound. Avalon, who grew up in a musical family, aims to challenge traditional gender roles in country music and empower women through her music. Phoebe Bridgers announced the tracklist for her third studio album, Lost Weekend, set to release on August 14th. The 16-track album, her first solo project in six years, features collaborations with Julian Baker and Lucy Dakis on the lead single, Lost Boys. Bridgers will embark on the Lost Tour in September with Alex G as the opening act.
Primus has recorded several songs for their upcoming album, including The Old Grizz, a cover of DIO's Holy Diver, and Little Lord Fentanyl. The band is still in the recording process, focusing on developing riffs and building chemistry between the new drummer, John Hoffman, and bandmates Les Claypool and Larry Lalonde. Hoffman joined the band in 2025 after winning a global audition process. Tom Morello announced his upcoming solo album, Everyone Gets Everything They Want, set for release on September 25th. The album, described as his first solo rock album, features collaborations with Serj Tankian, Beartooth's Caleb Shomo, and Kneecap. The album includes the new single Date Night, inspired by the true story of three Dutch girls who fought against the Nazis during World War II. And finally, singer Carly Simon, 83, announced she has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and recently underwent treatment for skin cancer. She shared that the disease has impacted her mobility and daily life, but music has been a source of comfort. Simon will release her first album original song since 2008 on August 14th.
