After losing their previous lead singer last November, Arch Enemy's new singer, Lauren Hart, reflected on her first show at the band in Beijing, describing it as a dream come true. She was relieved to see positive reception from fans who embraced her immediately. The band is currently working on new music, releasing singles and sessions rather than a full album, and plans to release more material after the summer. Maluma's Tu Recuerdo ascends to number one on the Billboard Tropical Airplay chart, marking his fifth career leader and the second from his album Loco Y Volver. The song earns 5.4 million audience impressions, up 6 percent, and also climbs to number two on Hot Tropical Songs and number 37 on Hot Latin Songs. This achievement makes Maluma one of only three solo acts to reach number one on Tropical Airplay in 2026
Universal Pictures announced the release date for the Snoop Dogg biopic titled Snoop, set for August 6, 2027 The film, directed by Craig Brewer and starring Jonathan Daviss, will be rated R and is expected to be the quote definitive biopic of the rapper. The biopic will follow the life of Snoop Dogg, born Calvin Brodus, and his journey in the music industry. Ben Folds testified before Congress about the negative impact of Donald Trump's 2025 takeover of the Kennedy Center. Folds, who resigned as artistic advisor to the National Symphony Orchestra, argued that Trump's politicization of the institution transformed it into a quote hyper-politicized environment and compromised its mission. He highlighted concerns about artists' safety and the Center's reputation, citing the Yasmin Levy incident as an example. Carly Pearce announced her fifth studio album, Honest Woman, set for release on August 28th. The album, co-produced with Ben West, features traditional country and bluegrass influences with guest appearances from Dan Tyminski and Molly Tuttle. Pearce will support the album with an intimate fall concert series, Honest Woman Up Close, starting September 10th in Detroit.
The Academy of Country Music has appointed Andy Schuon as its new CEO, effective September 1st. Schuon, a media veteran with experience at MTV, Warner Records and other companies, succeeds Damon Whiteside, who stepped down in June. Schuon's appointment follows the recent leadership change of the Country Music Association, where Brittany Schaeffer was named incoming CEO.
Kingdom Come will release their new single, Payback's A Bitch, in early September. The single features the band's new lineup, including vocalist Ezekiel Zeke Kaplan and drummer Matt Muckel. Kaplan joined the band in early 2024, replacing Keith St. John, who departed to focus on other projects. Mobile Alabama's 20th Annual Gulf Coast Ethnic and Heritage Jazz Festival will feature poetry, music, and a gala. Events include an evening of poetry, hosted by poet laureate Alex Lofton II, the Hosea London Jazz Music Education Award Gala, and two nights of Jazz in the City concerts at the Temple Downtown.
And finally, American jazz saxophonist Plas Johnson, known for his work on the Pink Panther theme, Died at 94 Johnson, born in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, was a prolific session musician who played with artists like Frank Sinatra, BB. King, and Marvin Gaye. He was a regular in Henry Mancini's Orchestra, and later joined Merv Griffin's studio band.
