It's Tuesday, July 21st, 2026 I'm Brian Ibbott, and here are your music headlines for today.
The soundtrack to the hit TV series, Heated Rivalry, debuted at number eight on the Billboard 200's album chart, marking the first TV series soundtrack to achieve this feat in over a decade. The soundtrack featuring songs from the show and Peter Peter's original score sold 41,000 equivalent album units in its first week. Heated Rivalry, which premiered in November 2025, follows the secret romance of two hockey rivals.
Official lightsticks for the KPop Demon Hunters global concert tour are now available for purchase. The Huntrix and Saja Boys lightsticks feature five LED colors and more than eight lighting sequences with synchronization modes for coordinated effects. The lightsticks are designed after the film's logos and are officially licensed by Netflix and Hasbro.
Sy's Gangnam Style has become the first KPop video to reach 6 billion views on YouTube 14 years after its release. The video, known for its iconic choreography and scenes, was the first to reach 1 billion views and paved the way for KPop's global success.
Ella Langley's Choosin Texas has tied Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey's record for the most weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, excluding holiday singles. The song has achieved 14 weeks at the top, surpassing hits by Brandi & Monica, Destiny's Child and Tony Braxton. Sony Music Entertainment is suing Udio, an AI music generator, for copyright infringement of over 30,000 songs, including tracks by Beyonce, Harry Styles and Elvis Presley. The lawsuit claims Udio used these songs to train its AI models without permission. Sony is seeking to block Udio from further infringement and is requesting up to $150,000 per work infringed. Kieran Hebden, also known as Four Tet, has released a new album whose title is made up of unpronounceable characters under an equally unpronounceable secret alias. The album, featuring polished and infectious tracks, leans heavily towards Four Tet's dancier outputs and is available on major streaming services. The album's unique name and unpronounceable artist name add to its intrigue and appeal. John Glacier released Bond Girl, the first single from her upcoming album, Lack of Joy is Death. The upbeat track, accompanied by a 007-themed music video, showcases Glacier's ambient rap with a clubby beat.
Talk Talk members and collaborators will reunite for a one-night celebration in London on September 5th, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of their album, The Colour of Spring. The concert, titled The Spirit of Talk Talk, will feature a line-up of musicians and guest appearances, celebrating the band's evolution and enduring legacy. A new vinyl release of The Colour of Spring, overseen by drummer Lee Harris and Mark Hollis' son, will also be released on September 4th.
And finally, Heartland Poem by James Viggo Poulsen, featuring the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, conductor Jeffrey Patterson and pianist Robert Thies, will be released this Friday, July 24th. The album includes Poulsen's piano concerto and the title track, Heartland Poem, which blends Americana and minimalism. The recording was made at Abbey Road Studios in London. And it's Tuesday, let's take a look at the top five albums on the Billboard 200 chart. Number five, The Great Divide by Noah Kahan. Number four, Dandelion by Ella Langley.
