Madonna celebrated the release of her 10th number one album, Confessions II, with a free party at Queen's Knockdown Center. The event featuring performances by Stuart Price, Honey Dijon, and others transformed the venue into a dance club experience. Highlights included Madonna performing songs from Confessions II and vintage hits, with Denseteria being a standout moment. With Madonna's debut at number one joining Michael Jackson's Thriller in the top 10 of the Billboard 200, it marks the first time the two icons have shared the top 10 since 2001, and only the second time in their careers. The Rolling Stones' new album, Foreign Tongues topped Billboard's new music poll with 42% of the vote. The 25th studio album features 14 tracks, including 12 originals and two covers. The album was recorded with producer Andrew Watt and features contributions from various artists. Jay-Z performed at Yankee Stadium for the second night in a row, celebrating the 25th anniversary of his album, The Blueprint. The Country Music Association announced Brittany Schaffer as their new CEO, succeeding Sarah Trahern, who will retire on January 1, 2027 Schaffer, currently the Dean of Belmont University's Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business, will join CMA on September 8, 2026 Her experience includes roles at Loeb & Loeb LLP and Spotify.
Haircut 100, the quintessential 1980s band known for their catchy pop hits like Love Plus One, are making a comeback after 44 years. The band, featuring original members Nick Hayward, Less Names, and Graham Jones, is revitalized with a new album, Boxing the Compass, and a successful tour. Their unique blend of pop, funk, and salsa, coupled with their infectious energy, continues to captivate audiences across generations. Nopia, a viral harmony machine synth is nearing release. The instrument features a unique workflow with a chord builder, tonal selector, and extensions dial, allowing users to play diatonic chords with ease. Priced around 550 pounds, Nopia is expected to launch within a couple of months. And finally, a survey by Aviva found that 34% of adults own a vintage music player, with vinyl record players being particularly popular among both older and younger generations. The survey also revealed a preference for older gadgets, with 40% owning a digital camera, and 20% owning an analog or Polaroid camera.
