Cornell Alleged Gang Rape Case Takes New Turn With Jane Doe's Texts

Harvey Levin (0:00)

The Hulu Original Series, The Kardashians, is back. Season eight, isn't it great?

SPEAKER_2 (0:05)

This year has been insane. Have you dated anyone privately? Let me just say this, I can't control myself.

Alexa (0:14)

What about you?

Harvey Levin (0:15)

I'm single, I might be ready to mingle.

Alexa (0:18)

Of course I'm getting more action than Glowy. You think I walk around with this smile on my face for nothing? Oh my God.

Harvey Levin (0:24)

All episodes of season eight are now streaming on Hulu and Hulu on Disney Plus for bundle subscribers. Terms apply.

SPEAKER_2 (0:38)

Hey, good afternoon. Welcome to the TMZ Podcast. I already said afternoon, so afternoon edition. I have Alexa here.

Alexa (0:45)

Hi.

SPEAKER_2 (0:45)

How are you doing?

Alexa (0:46)

Glad to be back. How are you?

SPEAKER_2 (0:48)

I'm good. I haven't been on this podcast in a very long time. I know.

Alexa (0:51)

I'm glad that you're here.

SPEAKER_2 (0:53)

Because the audience, they don't like what I say sometimes. So I'm like, you know what? I'm just going to be over there. I'm just going to produce the thing.

Alexa (1:01)

We're here to balance it out. I love hearing your opinions.

SPEAKER_2 (1:04)

Hey, well, thank you. Very bold thing to say. So you might want to reconsider that.

Alexa (1:08)

I don't always agree, but it's fun.

SPEAKER_2 (1:12)

You like conversation.

Alexa (1:13)

A thousand percent. Hearing all sides.

SPEAKER_2 (1:15)

Right. Well, we are here to talk to you guys about this investigation that has captivated the country, the Cornell Seven. As we know, Jane Doe, who is yet to be identified, she accused seven former...

What is the fraternity?

Alexa (1:33)

Chi-Fi.

SPEAKER_2 (1:34)

Chi-Fi. Seven former Chi-Fi fraternity members of rape and said that she was not in the right headspace when this all went down. And a lot of what's come out so far has been text messages from this person, this man, this man.

This is what she said. But now we're here to kind of put a lot of the rumors to rest and give you the full context because we have obtained the text messages. Yeah.

Alexa (2:03)

Specifically between her and a man who's been identified as Jonathan Newell as one of the guys that was there. Right. So this is obviously after the fact this all happened in 2024 The case has now been reopened by the district attorney in New York to re-investigate saying that Cornell might have not done the best job. So now we're seeing these are texts from 2024 days after the alleged assault.

SPEAKER_2 (2:28)

Right. And so first person to text her was Jonathan, allegedly. And so we're just going to go through these text messages and we'll show you them on the screen as we go through them. So this was on October 21st. So that's the day after the incident. Correct. It's the day after the incident.

The the the alleged gang rape went down at this party. Jonathan Newell texts Jane Doe and says, hey, this is Jonathan.

Redacted gave me your number. I just wanted to apologize for how things went down the other night. My memory is kind of fuzzy about a lot of it. But me and Matt, being Matthew Ingalls, Right, one of the other alleged men. Cornell Seven, both feel like, I assume that's shit, right?

Alexa (3:15)

Yes.

SPEAKER_2 (3:16)

For being too effed up to shut it down and kick people out before it got way out of hand. You're an amazing person, and I genuinely hope you're not catching as much heat from this as we are.

We've been shutting down any stories we've heard, but again, I'm so, so sorry.

Alexa (3:34)

Very interesting.

SPEAKER_2 (3:35)

And then you want to read the response?

Harvey Levin (3:36)

Yes.

SPEAKER_2 (3:36)

It gives to that on October 21st again. This is the day after the first apology.

Harvey Levin (3:42)

Right.

Alexa (3:43)

So she says, Oh, Jonathan, I really appreciate the text.

My memory's super clouded too.

I think we were all way too effing drunk and high. I'm getting a little heat. Pi-Fi Girls, which is another sorority name. She names two of them and says, can't get my name out of their mouth, but that's to be expected. But at the end of the day, none of the sexual stuff was illegal. And honestly, I really liked being with you and Matt. So anything anyone has to say about the gangbang is out of their jurisdiction. I don't think we should feel any shame for the part. Our body, our choice, which is interesting.

SPEAKER_2 (4:25)

And then and then she continues there saying also, yes, well, it may have been nice for only like for like only four people to have been around. Y'all were both super out of it, and they should have taken it on themselves to leave. At the end of the day, you, Matt and I were in your bed and they didn't need to get up in that. But if you have any regrets or anything and you want to talk about it, I am always here to talk about it because that was a lot. I really do love you and Matt, and I promise I won't get quiet and weird with you like I did last time.
